Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

Postby BC Manager » Fri Oct 07, 2005 1:01 pm

It's great to see Andrey and Larry taking notice of this thread. I would be thrilled if they came up with a 70s, 60s or any other period league, with the same format. I've never had interest in ATG, but I love the mystery card concept so much, I'd play "Back to the 1890s" if they created it.

So, will anyone be interested in a 70s or 60s Decade 10-season keeper league like the one I started for the 80s game?

Hell yeah BC!!! The '80's decade theme league is one of my all time favs, even though so far my teams have sucked.

I agree, any decade. Right now I'd probably like to see a back to the 1970's game vs. any other decade, but I'd be very happy to see a back to the 1990's (but that could probably wait for a few more years), or any other decade. Of course, a back to the 1920's would probably bring in a lot more in from the ATG people. So many options, but a 70's game would be great!!!

A 70's game would be fun. You had the A's and the Yankees, those great Phillies and Pirates teams, and of course, the Big Red Machine. It was, I think, the height of Astroturf/speed/base-stealing in the NL while the AL still sported some big, slow, lumbering power teams, some there would be a wide variety of players. A great decade for pitchers too. Actually, the 70's would be a better call than the 60's for that reason-- more styles of baseball were played successfully. There were also more teams in the 70's than the 60's (24-26 to to 20), making for a larger player pool.

I don't want to repeat what everyone else has already said, so I won't. I am glad that Larry and Andrey are listening to us.....80's format is best! Bring on the 70's or 60's!!!

We do need to hear from more people though, or SOM might think it is just a few of us that are addicted and they won't think it is worth their effort to develop more formats for us!!!! So add to this thread guys!!

Very cool stuff. I would lobby for the 70's. It gets tough in the pre-expansion era to offer teams that make any sense. The 70's would be perfect. It's always fun to add those expansion Blue Jays and Mariners!

Hi Larry,

Thanks for listening to our input here, it means alot to know we are heard.

Why is it tough to offer pre-expansion era teams that make sense? Just curious. Thanks,

Sean

My name is Fletch........and I'm a Mystery Card addict. Heck, TSN could make a 1970's fastpitch softball Strat-o game and as long as it had the Mystery Card, I'd play!

Go to bat for us on this one, Larry :D (not the fastpitch softball thing, but a 70's game - or tweak the current 80's).

The 80's game (because of the mystery card) is my favorite format as well. It is the only format I really get to mange the entire season. 8)

I love the '80's game. As stated above you really do manage your team. I feel that if you could not figure out the card you have by an injury it would be even better.
