HAL finds a new way to screw me...

Postby canauscot » Fri Jun 23, 2006 2:28 am

I've got a team of good, better and best cards who are finding ways to lose (mostly through bad dice since most guys are underperforming their card badly), but HAL came up with a new way to screw me.

I've been shutout for 8 innings, but am only down by 2 and now rallying in the top of the 9th, so let's strike while the iron is hot.
One run is already in and a man on 3rd with two out. The tying run is on 3rd.

Gedman draws a walk.

Now I have Collins (probably the only guy not on at least a good card) solely to pinch run and hold an outfield spot and have Buck Martinez set as a defensive sub for Gedman (and a superb platoon).
Good time to bring in Collins for Gedman you say?

No, says HAL.

Hendrick singles and the game is tied but Gedman holds up at second.

How about now HAL? It's just as a good a chance of being a lefty pitcher by the time Gedman's spot comes back up to bat, and we could really use this win and get out of here and back home.

No, says HAL.

Hrbek drives a single and...wait for it...a play at the plate...you already guessed...Gedman thrown out at home.

We get through the bottom of the 9th and Randolph doesn't try and score from second on a two out single in the top of 10 and I fail to score...then HAL does me in the bottom...again...with Gedman never coming up to bat again!

Dont feel bad. Enos vabell got hurt the first game of the series and I had a good chance to sweep. I had Brokkins set as my 3rd base sub/defensive to Cabell. Who do they put in? Wayne Gross who is my DH agasnt righty. He cant hit lefties at all so HAL starts him against a lefty, he kills my rallies and I loose 2-1 after Blue pitched his best game of the year. Where was Brookens?

HAL treats me right

I feel guilty now, because HAL did right by me tonight in a big way, as my two teams went 6-0. They pinch hit in the right situations (actually didn't get any hits, but that's not the point), with the right people, pinch ran in all the right situations (with the right people) and even did a good job of managing the pen.
Has the tide turned? or is the squeeky wheel getting the oil?
