March Madness B2, Rd 2 - Panzer wins 101!

No flags on Kemp. I just decided I needed a reliable RH bat rather than a LH bat who was riding pine. My experience with Kemp is that he can be a good value, but doesn't always perform up to his card.

I think I'm noticing teams taking a lot more risks than they usually would -- namely dropping guys early rather than giving their cards time to be revealed. I know I was pretty conservative in the first round, knowing I only had to make the top 9 to advance. This time around, it's make the post season or go home. My need to be aggressively proactive is increased by being in the same division as the mighty Panzer :x :)

Aggressive turnovers?

Heck, you had to see the first round with some of these cats.

The free agent list turnover became complete before the first 42 games. I saw players hitting starting line-ups on winning teams that rarely make an appearance on doormat clubs, i.e., those 65-97 type beauties.

My luck has been to get the undercard season from a first-time used card as I'll hold on to them longer than reasonable. Hopefully, Rice shows me a sign soon as his splits tell a sad story of 1988.

I think once some big names hit the FA list, the feeding frenzy starts. People tend to get more aggressive with moves. Sometimes you have to dump a guy based on his salary if he isnt performing.
My team has been off to a surprisingly hot start. I am sure I will cool off as people get their teams ironed out....or random drug testing gets started. :oops:

Do you keep a struggling Jim Rice (LF / 3e9) with signs pointing to his 1988 season :cry: or do you grab a equally struggling Andre Dawson and shove him in CF with his glove and arm with an outside chance your pulling his 1987 season?

Deal or no deal?

After reviewing some six (6) prior leagues, I observed Rice and Dawson on less than 1/3 of the season ending line-ups. :shock: Are these players that known for underperforming their cards?

With Luz's solid showing so far in a part-time role, risking a little for a lot doesn't seem so damn stupid.

Given the premium on a CF's glove / arm, I'll take the plunge and fall on Dawson hoping that Luz's opening series' performance(s) aren't some siren's call to the jagged rocks.

Of course, Dawson can drop a turd on my balance sheet and show me is 1984 season (no triples please!!!!).

Not sure which way you should go on that decision Semper...but in any event...there is no excuse for the behavior of your team last night!!

Reviewed a few more leagues and not only didn't I observe Rice or Dawson on teams but even fewer had Hrbek on them. :shock:

Despite Hrbek's better cards with small park home advantage, he seemed to hit under card potential (a cheaper Eddie Murray in price alone!).

So, what do you do now Batman?

Hell, you cut him and grab Rice back, silly!

This should be fun now - when I pull up Dawson's and Rice's 6th hidden seasons.

And, to fund my flip-flop hedge here - I had to cut Bob Stanley as well as my spare catcher (how could I have missed his "w" vs. RHPs) free - just in case - I need a few $$$s to buy back Hrebk. :D

Yes, Stanley didn't stay unemployed for too long and went to a team sporting nothing but $$$ relievers :roll:

Talk about cornering the pitching market :wink:

I made the mistake last round sitting the changes out when I had a decent record and then found myself chasing my tail after my division-mates morphed their teams.

I might as well tweak a few pieces while the going is good before I'll get tweaked by my division-mates once again.

Heck ... every team here is one or two dice rolls away from a series sweep given the credentials of the owners. :(

I know what you're saying Semper. Funny thing is I'm sitting at 8-16 and there's very few moves I feel I can make -- I've confirmed several players have their best (or nearly best) cards, so I can't part with them. I just have to wait until for my players to start hitting/pitching up to their cards.
