Billy Wagner in Shea???

Billy Wagner in Shea???

Postby JOHNPHILLIPS 2 » Fri Oct 07, 2005 7:43 pm

I was wanting to know if anyone has had any luck with him in Shea? I was thinking it may be too much $$$ for what you get in return. I'm sure he will put up good numbers but I wonder if I can get him enough innings to make it worth it.

I have Ramiro Mendoza to setup for Wagner.

Sounds formidable to me.

Have Wags setup vs. lefties and close both ways, while having Mendoza setup vs. righties.

I would put Wags set up and close both ways, don't use before the eigth inning. You want him in any close game regardless if he is facing a RH or LH. I like Mahay better that Ramirez. I've never seen Mahay fail to have a good season in Shea. I would only look elsewhere if RH parks in my division, as he's good anywhere else.

Waggs in Shea (With Gonzo combo)

Postby cummings2 » Mon Oct 10, 2005 11:58 am

In my current Shea team after 126 games:

Waggs 9W 2L 29S 79.1 IP 1.59ERA .88WHIP

In my last Shea team at the end of the season:

Waggs: 4W 3L 27S 79.2 IP 2.49ERA .88WHIP

In the one that finished alredy (The second listed) I had M. Gonzalez seeting up R, with Waggs set up both and close both...in the current one Gozo sets up both and Waggs closes both but with closer set to regular (not max)

BTW Gonzo's lines for the same teams:

After 126 games
M. Gonzalez 10W 4L 12S 137.2 IP 2.16ERA .94WHIP

After 162 games
M. Gonzalez : 12W 3L 5S 143IP 1.38ERA .99WHIP

I hope to get Wagner on a team sometime but don't worry about having someone who has a high salary for the number of innings they could play. You can't worry about that with the best players...that's what I believe anyway. He may not play a huge amount of innings but what he does play, will give good results.

that is very interesting cummings....I have always hesitated to use M. Gonzalez at shea, or anywhere else for that matter, due to his high $$ and R1/C0 rating....Had only used him in $100 mill leagues so far....

Nice numbers tho, might have to give him a try! :)

Wags is a great closer almost anywhere, but is really great in Shea, not a hard choice at all, it's who I would want in Shea.

M Gonzalez has been extremely good to me everytime I have had him. You can overuse him with no problems, and he still performs.
