Strato wonder cards

Postby dspeters5 » Thu Jun 29, 2006 5:53 pm

Gates Brown, John Blanchard, Ron Bloomberg. Gates Brown hit .370 for the 68 Tigers, unfortunately he only batted about 150 times. John Blanchard's 1961 card is awesome, so awesome I start him over Yogi Berra. His card as almost as many homeruns on it as Mickey Mantle. I think he batted 240 times that year. Joe will not let me use a dh when we played with our cards with Gates or Johnny B.

anyone remember Nate Colbert.... he had one awesome card vs RHer's one year... :) think it might have been with the Seattle Pilots...

and I should recognize... that the Seattle Pilots will [b:a74af47b08]not[/b:a74af47b08] likley be in ATG III

The 1921 Giants and 1978 Yankees???

Frankie Frisch and Ron Guidry's cards should be awesome. Goose Gossage's card should be very good also. I don't see anyone elses card being used tho. Louisiana Lightnin should be out of this world, tho. $12 mil easily. Frankie's defense is a little weak tho, 6.5 or 7.0 mil, what do you guys think????

"Turner Ward" 1997 Pirates, 167 at bats... our league cut off at that time was 155 at bats. Ward (.353 7 33, what a card vs. RHP!!!) was my first pick (it was a keeper league and I already had Maddux, Chipper, McGwire, Javy, Piazza etc...). My 2nd pick... Jon Nunnally (230 ABs, .309 14 39, killed RHP!). I won the league that year. The next year our cut off went up to 255 ABs. I still refer to it as the "Dave rule". That was OK though, I think Ward's only big moment after that year was when he crashed through the outfield wall at... I forget where.

I forgot my 4th pick was Eric Davis (.304 8 25), at bats... 158, no wonder the vote was 11-1 in favor of changing the cut-off!!! A prize to whomever guesses who voted against the rule change!

It was Bump Bailey that crashed thru the wall and died in "the natural".

Yea (I saw the movie), but Ward did it in real life! He didn't get killed, as a matter of fact, I don't think he even got hurt but he did go right through an outfiled fence in some major/minor league park.

Ward crashed through the wall in Portland, OR, which was the Pirates AAA team that year
