Um.... uh..... I guess? NOt sure...

Is everything OK Guido? Or is it that there's just no one you want to steal?

Hmm ... I thought we were obligated to steal someone and carry that person on the team, at least through the beginning of the season. I think that adds to the strategy of the league.

OK with us, I don't see anything in the rules that says one has to make a pick in the steal round, and down there at the end I guess the options get limited...................?????????????????

Well, either way is fine with me.

Munich Man has been MIA in Barnstormers. Hopefully he'll show up here. I'm guessing that he's in the process of traveling back to Germany from the States, and without Internet access.

I just saw tomwistar comments and looked over the rules again. I don't see anything that says a team must choose any keepers at all. Therefore the size of the "must keep" pool per team can vary from 0 to 7 players (3 keepers, 1 steal, up to 3 second round keepers. At least that is how I interpeted the wording.
The intent of the rule (I believe) is to restrict any one team from keeping a large number of critical players by forcing all teams to release at least 16 players each year (as well as makeing available at least one of their top 4 players each season). If a team chooses to release more than 16 players then they certainly are within what I see as the intent of the rule.
At least that is how I read and understand the situation.

We are certainly open to others interpretations of what the intent and meaning of the rules are however.............................

1) 3-1-3 Keeper format. Each owner announces 3 keeper, or protected, players. Then there is a steal round, worst to first, where one player get stolen from each team. Then another keeper round of (up to) three players.

Here's the rule. I interpret this as meaning: keep three, steal one, then another round where you can keep "up to three" players. So four keepers are required, three are optional.

In a way, it's not fair to have someone not steal, because that means one team will get off the hook and not lose a player. If need be, you can just take a scrub.
