Just curious. Were the Cleveland Naps named after Nap Lajoie?

Yes they were named after him when he was player-manager. They became the Indians in 1915.

like what i see, hope some of those 61 teams can be added, yanks, tigers, giants. also the 68 season had some great pitchers on a couple of lower division teams. like nevs idea of larger leagues. keep up the good work.

At Bat normalization....

Postby ironwill1 » Tue Jul 04, 2006 6:38 pm

Bernie,

I like the error normalization. How about adjusting the injury calculation to reflect an "at bat" normalization for Dead Ball era players.

HERE HERE!!! Guys who's teams played only 154 games (or less) should be judged to 570 PA not 600.

Oh yeah.... Nap Lajoie... been waiting for him.
How about some of the other forgotten/missing greats?
Jack Chesbro, George Sisler, Bob Feller, any Waner, Ralph Kiner, Fergie Jenkins, Rod Carew, and so on

Speaking of Carew....
how about the 1977 Twins. People have forgotten about the Twins of this era. Maybe there's good reason.... but.... for Strat.....
None of the roster currently exists in Strat ATG

Carew, 1B, 151 games, 10e; .388ba, .449obp, 23sb, 68xbh, 0-g inj risk
Bostock, LF-CF, .336ba, .389obp, 16sb, 62xbh, 3-g inj risk
Hisle, LF-CF, .302ba, .369obp, 28hr, 36doubles, 3-g inj risk
Wynegar, C, .714ops, 3-g inj risk
Glenn Adams, backup LF-RF, .376obp, 6hr and 17-2b in 269ab,

Goltz, SP, 3.36era, would probably by 8* or 9* (29 starts, 7.9ip/start), 1.24whip,
Tom Johnson, RP, R2 maybe R3 (146 2-3ip), 3.13era, 1.36whip

Lots of flotsam and jetsam too, but gotta get a Carew in here, plus a healthy, cheap C.

Just another curiosity. Can anyone explain to me how to pronounce Nap Lajoie's last name? I've always wondered. :)

I've always heard it as La-jous-wee.

For jous, think french, like au jous sauce.

The more appropriate way to include Carew in the set would be to remove the 1965 twins and replace it with the 1969 version. On that team you get a Carew hitting .330 along with Killebrew's MVP season.

I am not sure I like the normalization of errors either, especially with the subset options that have been hinted at. It is the error factor in the deadball game that puts as many runners on as some of those dominant pitching cards. Now replay the same deadball teams, under modern fielding conditions and virtually no scoring will occur.

I can understand when you play them across era's why it might look attractive to adjust fielding ratings, but as others have pointed out there are a whole lot of things accross era's that aren't normalized. Regardless I will be back and playing.

One suggestion that I would really like to see, is to add the duplicate player cards who are on multiple ATG teams. I am sure there must be a way to force HAL to only use one card per game, but alot of us like the team based themes and would like the option of using the 1978 Reggie with his team instead of the 1973 Reggie. This will become a larger issue the greater the ATG pool of teams becomes.

Looking forward to some new cards regardless,
