I am always surprised by the lack of flexibility (or at least my perception thereof) of owners facing one-sided teams. In one league I am in, a team not in my division has a line-up of 8 right-handed hitters in Minute Maid, but no one in that very division made a single offer for Carpenter when I offered him. :(

Probably as a consequence, that MM team is now running with the division title, 6 games in front, thanks to a 18-6 homefield record.

As I've learned Strat I've been able to build better teams for my own park but it's been harder trying to pick up the players that will teams in their park. Probably since I like to use 4 *SP and a deeper bullpen but there is quite a bit of value in having spot starters.

Escobar surely isn't the only option either, just probably the most expensive. Cabrera and Padilla are very good options at a lesser price, just without the flexibilty of using them in relief as well. Even the $1.42 Cabrera is worth the investment even if only for 8 starts against a divisional MM foe. Could very well mean the difference of a playoff berth or none.

Marcus, I have to shake my head when I hear of offers such as the one you refer to and are rejected. All too often folks think if a trade is offered, the offerer is trying to pull a fast one rather than something that might help both teams. I've seen it playing roto baseball, and I'm seeing it more so here. If you don't take their hand and walk them step by step over the benefits of the trade, you'll find the offer rejected 95% of the time. Most of the time, the offer is giving the receiver the bigger benefit.
