[quote:35e407dc96="BC Manager"]As for drafting, keep in mind there would just be one draft -- a draft of the 24 teams, at the beginning. Unless we come up with some form of draft between seasons.[/quote:35e407dc96]

What if after each season a team must give up one of their teams and then was redraft them by order of finish? Say I have MIL and CHC, I'd have to give up the CHC. I might get them in the draft...but might not. Just an idea

Looks like you'd be looking for veterans as replacements (if you're going to need any) but if you need a guy I'd like to join. I've been reading the threads on the Decade league and what a great concept. I like the idea of having to plan for the future instead of one shot and you're done.

Again, I quite like this idea. There's a couple of ways of doing it.

1 - We could have everyone draft a "base" or "primary" team that they keep for the entire decade and then everyone would draft a secondary team for each season (in reverse order for first year and reverse order finish after every season, as YF suggests).

2 - We could have everyone draft two teams and then after each season, you have a choice at which of your two teams you're keeping for the following season. That way the owners who get the later pick for their first team have some options, since some teams are strong early in the decade and others are stronger later in the decade.

The problem with option 2 is with trades. If you have the option of dropping either of your teams after the season, what happens to the players from that team that you've traded? I want teams to be able to make deadline deals -- where one is picking up something for next year.

Under option #1, a player traded from your primary team would be the other teams' property as long as they were with the primary team in real life. Players traded from your secondary team would only be owned for the rest of the year as their team would be redrafted after the season.

The other things to figure out are stadiums and divisions. Of course ballparks should be from one of your two teams -- but should they be able to be changed as your secondary team changes? And divisions should reflect the teams you have but I'm not sure exactly how to do this (though I'm working on some ideas).

On Stadiums...

If you went with Option 1, a whole-decade team you keep,
you could also make that your stadium for the whole time.

That would add an extra element to the decision... select
that "constant keep" team either because it's got talent...
or because you like the stadium...

Perhaps it levels out the edge on draft order, as either the
lower picks will get good stadium choices, or will get more
talented teams because some of the higher picks would be
used based on the stadium rather than the player talent.

Just an idea.
