ok here goes
since a lot of leagues have been having trouble getting off the ground I fig this one has no shot but here it is anyway

drumroll please ALPHABET SOUP
1. each participant will pick a letter for hitters and a letter for pitchers 10 of his hitters and 8 of his pitchers last names must begin with that letter. at no time can a player have more than 4 hitters and 4 pitchers not beg with his letter. the only trades that can be made involve players with names that begin with letters not picked.
2. standard 80m dh league with 10% drop
3. lottery to determine order to pick letters. serpentine draft you can pick hitters or pitchers first it is your choice. the team picking first will probably end up with an unbalanced team hitting to pitching whereas the team picking 12th should have the most balanced team. after letters are picked there will be a 7 round live draft also serpentine but with a reverse order 12th picking first. .

proposal that if you selected a letter, that letter cannot be used by any other players. for instance, i select "L" for hitters and do not draft derrek lee, still no one else can take him.

yes that is how I pictured it if you have L for hitters than Lee is your property even if you dont use him.

and yes only one letter per hitter one letter for pitchers for example if you pick L for hitters and G for pitchers noone else can pick them and noone else can use any of the players

of course L for pitchers and G for hitters are available to be picked

How many x's y's and Z's or U's or I's are out there.
I haven't looked at it close enough to determine if there are 10 batters that start with O or I or U or ......

there are more than enough hitters in more than 12 of the letters
we are only picking 12 the other 14 letter players are in the live draft
