Remember you would be able to use any player that played for one of your teams for that year. For example, if you have the Yankees and it's 1982, you can use Don Mattingly, as he played 7 games in pinstripes that year -- rather than waiting for 1984 when the first season is on his card

I guess that answers my biggest question. Suppose you have the Yankees and its 1981. Even though Dave Winfield does not have a card in the BTT80's subset, you can still use him since he played for the 81 Pinstrippers, right?

Interested in Alernate decade league also

Postby rookssa1958 » Sat Jul 08, 2006 1:25 pm

I'd be interested as an alternate also...but it looks like this will fill. Maybe us alternates should try to start our own decade league?

Team Based Decade League Excel Workbook

Postby YountFan » Sat Jul 08, 2006 2:13 pm

Here is the workbook of 80's players and the team(s) they played for by year. You can use the drop down to select a season and/or team.

I also did ya'll a big favor a highlighted in yellow the players who played for two or more teams durring a single season.

Study the data and draft well my friends.

The workbook contains 4 worksheets
1. Pitchers 80-90 - Pitchers with years and teams. Who played on what team(s) in what year.
2. Hitters 80-90 - Hitetrs with years and teams. Who played on what team(s) in what year.
3. Pitchers Span - The career span for all pitchers
4. Hitters Span - The career span for all hitters

I'd like to sign up for the alternate league too.

YF, That spreadsheet you created is a fantastic tool. In scrolling through it I did notice one error. On the hitter's span tab Dave Ford is really Dan Ford and his span is 1975-1985, not 78-81. He couldn't have had 5 card years if that was the span.

I don't mean to pick at your spreadsheet, I am only trying to help out. Super job! :D

Postby Runnin Rebel » Sat Jul 08, 2006 3:28 pm

What do you do with someone like Jerry Reuss who pitched for three teams in 1987: Dodgers, Reds, and Angels??

Reuss is available to ALL THREE TEAMS via the autodraft. 1st come, 1st serve!
