Yeah, but you had much better pitching SPs in all those three seasons.
People sometimes don't realize that the relievers eras are dependent on the quality of the pitching around. With a worse rotation, relievers are brought in the game earlier. So when Seanez comes in the game, chances are that he's gonna stay until he's tired, or even after he becomes tired. Similarly, there is greater chances that Witasik and Hoffman won't be around, or won't be available, when Seanez is in trouble. Therefore, there is much greater chances that those cheap relievers (those sub 1M relievers) will be the ones relieving Seanez. Those relievers have very high whips, in the 1.50s-1.60s, so they are gonna allow many more runners left on base by Seanez come in than Witasik or Hoffman would do. Finally, Hal always removes a starting pitcher if he allows 3 hits/walks in one inning after he has reached his fatigue period. Cheaper starters are more susceptible to allow 3 runners on base without registering a single out. So there will be less occasions for Seanez to register an easy out and start all over in a new inning.
WE should never look at eras for relievers, anyway. We should look at whips, homeruns allowed, and number of times Hal let them pitch in fatigue modes (we can only estimate these occasions, unfortunately).
