[quote:90ce83fac8="LMBombers"]YF, That spreadsheet you created is a fantastic tool. In scrolling through it I did notice one error. On the hitter's span tab Dave Ford is really Dan Ford and his span is 1975-1985, not 78-81. He couldn't have had 5 card years if that was the span.

Thanks for pointing it out. I was joining two different data source together by name and because my SOM data only has first initials it messed up. I thought I found all the mistakes, but I guess not. Please let me know of other errors.

Some more thoughts:

My one concern is that teams who draft late in the initial draft will always be at a disadvantage. They will always be stuck with 2 sub-standard teams, unlike those who draft early in the initial draft. Here's my ideas:

- owners would have the option each year of being able to keep the secondary team they have. So before the draft each team would have the choice of tossing their second team back into the pool and drafting another one, or keeping both their teams. That way if someone say drafts California and Baltimore in the initial draft and has a good season, they will have the option of keeping both decent teams rather than being stuck with Califonia and say, Seattle. Meanwhile an owner who drafts early in the initial draft and say scores NYY, Tigers, Cardinals will likely toss their secondary team back in the pool in the second draft because it will be one of the lower rated teams.

- the other option I thought of was allowing teams who finish in the bottom four to cash in their primary team and keep their secondary team, if they choose. This just keeps someone from making a bad intitial pick and being stuck with it for 9 seasons. However, there's still the problem of what to do about players traded from their primary team. So, I don't think this will work.

I do think we should implement a lotter for the bottom 4 teams for between-season drafts, as we do in the Decade league, to avoid teams purposely tanking it for the first pick.

Still looking for ideas on how to assign divisions. Would like it to somehow resemble real life.

BC, run a snake draft for the teams.

The let each team at the end of the season pick what team they are going to drop. This way the end giy of rd 1 get a good 2nd team. And I as a owner should be able to drop either team at seasons end.

Divisions based on the ballpark selected. There maybe some adjustment and ballparks changes, but it won't be too bad, or the division are set in the first season, but the parks may change. The nice thing about the decade is steady divisions (although you can move Hak to another one if you'd like)

Postby LMBombers » Sat Jul 08, 2006 7:02 pm

YF, I took a closer look at the Hitters Span tab of your spreadsheet. Here are some more corrections:

John Barfield s/b Jesse and span s/b 81-92, not 89-91
Jim Clark s/b Jack and span s/b 75-92, not 71-71
Don Collins s/b Dave and span s/b 75-90, not 77-80
Mike Fitzgerald span s/b 83-92, not 88-88
Rod Henderson s/b Rickey and span s/b 79-03, not 94-98
Guy Hoffman s/b Glenn
Carlos Maldonado s/b Candy and span s/b 81-95, not 90-93
Chito Martinez s/b Carmelo and span s/b 83-91, not 91-93
Domingo Martinez s/b Dave and span s/b 86-01, not 92-93
Keith Mitchell s/b Kevin and span s/b 84-98, not 91-98
Alan Newman s/b Al
Roberto Ramirez s/b Rafael and span s/b 80-92, not 98-99
Pete Rose span s/b 63-84, not 97-97
Luis Rivera span s/b 86-98, not 00-00
Ronn Reynolds s/b RJ or Robert
Jason Thompson span s/b 76-86, not 96-96

I'll take a look at the pitchers span tab now.

YF, I only found one mistake in the pitchers listing.

There are two Jeff Robinson listings. Delete the one with the span of 87-92 and change the 84-92 Jeff to a R3.

Thats it. Hope my proofreading was a help. 8)
