Bobby Abreu

He has not played like a 7m man in several leagues that I have seen. The best place for him might be in the free agent pool. :P

As usual, I find myself agreeing with LMBombers here. Had him on a couple of teams already, and in most leagues I've been in, same results. Good numbers, but you can get similar numbers from players half his price. Had him on a US Cell and a Dolphins stadium with mixed results at best.

Ditto the above feelings on Abreu. His stats can be had much cheaper, especially if you are not concerned with the SB, as I am not. I bat him 2nd, as he hits into very few DP's, which is one of my main considerations. I think he has no GBA vs lhp's and only two on 3 & 11 rolls vs rhp's, which is very good. I am starting to think he's only good in a MM, where he'll face 80% rhp's or a big hitting park. He has been stinking vs lhp's for me, but I still bat him #2 for the DP reason. I did just move him down to #8 tonight on a team vs lhp's, as I had Duffy who also hits into very few DP's.

I would not cut him. It's very tough to cut him, as his total package is so appealing, but as I said, I agree with the criticisms. It might be good being the only LH park, as you may see more RH SP's. That is probably as good a situation to use him as any.

Well, if it was a more neutral park league I'd be inclined to keep Abreu, but damn if there isn't a lot of righty leaning parks. For the same price you can do a Green/Mench platoon, or save some coin and try a Green/Mondesi one. Tough call as you still play 81 games at home, and I'm guessing those RH park teams are coming in with a few RH's. Push comes to shove, keep Abreu and hopefully he'll live up to is card for you.

Good luck!

I like Jenkins or Gibbons better for the money than Abreu, especially if you will see quite a few RHP.

However you are in the middle of the season so if you cut Abreu for one of these guys then you will have a couple Mil. left over that you can't use unless you cut someone else. I am not a proponent of a lot of in season drop/adds. Maybe you can swing a trade?

I've used him on several teams and he's ok . Nothing to write home about but doable numbers . I would try to work out a trade 1st and if you can't , then just keep him and chalk it up to experience. He does have a good arm , no injury , will hit some doubles , steal a bit and a few dingers. Why take the cap hit when he's not horrible .

I tell everybody to get Craig Wilson if they can. I believe when I got him for my Coors team my season turned around and I almost caught up to make the playoffs.
