New for ATG III? The intentional injury

Postby seyclops » Sun Jul 09, 2006 10:59 am

Ever get tired of being pummelled by Babe Ruth? What about $500K upstarts who get under your skin, like last season when Cochrane was injured, but freaking Tony Pena starts smacking triples and dingers off my top starters like he's Stan Musial or something?

The man should go down. On orders.

Guys like Ty Cobb and Don Drysdale would have extremely high intentional injury ratings. On the other end of the spectrum would be guys like Nellie Fox -- hey, he's great at what he does, but nobody's gonna worry about damage inflicted by someone named Nellie, whose most fearsome weapon would be dribbling tobacco juice on someone who just slid into second.

ATG III is screaming for a feature like this, and if we get it, it'll be your opponent's players who are doing the screaming!

Convaluted, twisted, unethical, borderline evil...
I should think HAL would be all for it.

There would also be DPKs

That's designated pitcher killers.

If my memory serves me correctly, Roberto Clemente broke Bob Gibson's leg, knocked a testicle off Wade Blasingame  or both. A valuable guy to have at the plate when Pete's going or Eck comes in.

Then there will be specialists. Anyone named Frank could sideline Babe Ruth or Charlie Kerfield with the offer of free hotdogs.

Likewise, anyone named Duncan (an alternate spelling of Dunkin') could sideline Mickey Lolich with free donuts.

I'm all for it - as long as we can also have the option "If this RP gets into a game - someone will take them out" literally... like the Mob

I'm tired of checking - don't come in before the 9th, avoid LH and RH, max of 1 IP - why can't we just have an option that says if HAL puts X pitcher in a game - he's gonna get run down after the game in a suspicious hit & run that never gets solved?

I have 2-3 nickel P's on my staff for a specific reason, it's because HAL makes me - I don't want them, but I have to - so why can't I make decisions on who pitches and when? It's my $$$ - not HALs. If I don't want T Conroy pitching - don't put him in, ever. He's on my roster because I need 10 pitchers, not because I think he's the best arm to come into a tie game in the 15th inning.

I've been looking for that button through ATG and ATG II

I call it the BASEBRAWL BUTTON   , right after you call for that high and tight one. Fines, Suspensions, Injuries. We could have it all. 8)

"If it's in the game, It should be in the game" :P :P

That feature is already in the game. It has to be. How else would you explain this?

[quote:d20758d407]My playoff injuries, spread out through the semis and finals:

INJURY: Honus Wagner INJURED (for 5 more games) in 3rd inning
INJURY: Joe Tinker INJURED (for 15 more games) in 6th inning
INJURY: Bill Wambsganss INJURED (for 3 more games) in 9th inning
INJURY: Mickey Cochrane INJURED (for 15 more games) in 4th inning
INJURY: Charlie Gehringer INJURED (for 3 more games) in 6th inning
INJURY: Tris Speaker INJURED (for 2 more games) in 1st inning
INJURY: Ty Cobb INJURED (for 1 more game) in 6th inning [/quote:d20758d407]

Now, if only I could figure out the secret code to get to that "injure the other guy" command... 8)
