alternates

Postby BC Manager » Mon Jul 10, 2006 10:39 am

I wasn't necessarily going to give the spots to people on a first come first serve basis. I'd prefer to invite people we know and can vouch for. Jablowmi should get a spot. As for the others, if anyone can PM me with any input please do.

[quote:16377bfcc3="Yellow_Dog"]I'd be interested as an alternate also...but it looks like this will fill. Maybe us alternates should try to start our own decade league?

I do think it's safe to say that if neither Mav not IM has expressed interest yet, then they're not going to be involved. There've been plent of messages for them to see. I presume IM has his hands full at the moment.

One final fly-by on the rules of this league:

The 1980 Pirates only have three starting pitchers in the set

BLYLEVEN
RHODEN
CANDELARIA

to round out the rotation I would have to choose pitchers from the
1) SECONDARY TEAM I select
2) Free Agent pitchers from UNDRAFTED TEAMS

BTW I vote for a salary cap of 80-mil. It tends to keep the teams somewhat balanced and prevents the league from becoming an all-star blowout.

RR, because a number of teams have limited players in 1980, we'll be starting the season with 1981. Otherwise, yes, your other team and players from undrafted players will fill in your roster. You can also make trades to fill in any holes.

Remember we're basing this on the years players actually played with teams and not on the years on their cards.

Of course teams that are that short on players may not make a great pick for your primary team.

We'll have to come up with some penalty for teams who can't field a valid roster, which hopefully won't happen.

[b:0242338fcd]Looks like the consensus is to go with an $80 million salary cap. I don't want to hear any complaining about it, later. [/b:0242338fcd]

Likely the biggest decisions owners will have will be whether to pick teams according to their heart or head. I know I'll have some dilemnas depending where I pick.

Teams will be allowed to swap draft positions in the initial draft. (ie., if the team you want first can be picked lower, then you can maybe improve your position for picking a secondary team).

I was kind of looking forward to the 100m. I thought I'd spend 80 on my team and 20 on cheerleaders. Now I only have 60m to spend on my team :x

BC, I sent you a PM.

YF, why don't you handicap yourself and stay under $60 million to see if you can compete. I don't think the rest of us would mind.

Pick 3 states

Postby BC Manager » Mon Jul 10, 2006 2:48 pm

BC - Ontario
YF - Wisconsin
Runnin' Rebel -
BigAlric -
Albert -
Sykes -
Hak -
Sean -
BJS -
Crossingroads -
Jablowmi -
Jsamia -

Jablowmi and Jsamia are in as replacements. I'm presuming Mav wasn't interested as he's had plenty of notice here and in the 86 league.

Pick 3 draw will be LOWEST to HIGHEST. We'll use the numbers from the day that everyone's picked a state (unless any are picked late in the day).

I'll start a new thread with the official rules when I have time (not sure when that will be).
