Petco or When You Get Dealt Dogfood, It's Time to Make..

Trying to get a handle on my first Petco team of the year.

Got CRUSHED during the draft and have been struggling to get a decent squad together ever since. Was hoping to land either Pedro or Pettite in the waiver draft and somehow ended up with BOTH.

My biggest concern has been trying to get enough OBP and pure HR power in order to put runs up on the board. The waiver wire is thin on pure HR power. Even though this is a no-DH league, I've had enough success with Ortiz at 1B elsewhere to know that I can get away with playing him there. Dunn and A. Ramirez also have solid pure HR power.

My primary issue is at 3B where I am concerned about the A. Ramirez injury.

Secondly, I have been bouncing back and forth between going with Sizemore in CF and Michaels in RF OR going with Michaels in CF and a platoon of Piedra and Podsednick. The latter would allow me to carry another decent lefty reliever.

Thoughts?

Hey I called my team the Noreasters to except the "City" I used was Susquehanna since nor'easters come up my way (Harrisburg, PA) and stay mostly east of the SusQ River.

Anyway, is Ibanez available? For a lousy fielder he has few errors and a good bat. I've been using him in RF recently to good result, especially for the money. This team I'm just starting (The Mudville Nine, classic) have Ivanez in RF and Soriano for DH which is alot of production for just under 6mil.

I...love it! Petco is my favourite place to play. Most of my teams are there. 8)

Ibanez is available. He is a player that I could pick up if Sizemore tanks on me. There is no DH in this league so Soriano is in the box (Old FTF Strat term for unused players cards... their cards were kept in a box) as well.

I am planning on having Michaels lead-off against both R and L while letting Sizemore bat in the #2 slot. Make sense?

Sizemore on a recent Petco team:

AB 618, R 81, 156 H, 36 2B, 6 3B, 22 HR, 87 RBIs, 56 BB, 125 SO, 26 SB, 9 CS, 1 E, .252 BA, .318 OBP, .437 SLG.

It was a struggle all season long trying to find the right slot for him in the lineup. #2 against righties and #7 against lefties seemed to play out best. Late in the season, he started hitting lefites much better when the rest of the team was going down to injuries or generally sucking.

Anybody tried a Rowand ~ Taveras platoon?
I'm not giving up on Sizemore yet, but I'm thinking about options down the road. Kotsay and Wilkerson are still out there as well.
