With the names being cut from teams thus far, I can see a lot of excitement  building for the second phase of the supplemental draft.

Are we going with extra usage? Maybe 110-115% would be good, imo.

No usage limit and use one of the injury options. I don't think a pitcher can get hurt unless you set the max injuries. There's also the daily injury option. It's my understanding that a batter with over 500 ABs will not go on the 60 day disabled list.

Some thoughts on the 2nd keeper year

Postby ktoe072031 » Wed Jul 12, 2006 4:20 am

1. Any new franchise gets all the players on their 2005 roster whether they are claimed already or not. If the player was a supplemental, the team giving him up is comped a new supplemental.

2. Each franchise is allowed to steal a player who is on another team but plays on their 2005 team. (ex. Randy Johnson). Again, if the pick is a previous year supplemental, a player is comped.

3. Teams can fill their rosters similar to this season using all [b:9220873897]available[/b:9220873897] players from their franchise (ML cards, Multi and scrubs)

4. Each team gets a new supplemental (free agent if you will) using the same format as this season.

On injuries and usage...

I am open to any combination. If we choose no usage limits I would want to use Force daily injuries and the Super Advanced injury option. If we choose to use a usage limit I would like to eliminate injuries altogether.

Dave's other suggestions...

1. Once a team picks a player he should remain with them until they let him go or trade him. Any new owners for the 2005 season will be given higher draft picks or maybe extra draft picks to make sure we can still recruit.

2. Again, my thoughts are once a player is taken that team gets to keep them as long as they like.

3. I think this number should be more than 1, like I originally proposed. (Admittedly without much thought) I'm not sure if it should be unlimited, you should have to make tough decisions on players and by limiting it to a specified number, whatever that is, should help keep the player pool rich with talent so we can easily recruit new owners.

4. We are planning on doing this - The supplemental draft for undrafted players will be run in the same manner each year.

A few more thoughts on usage & injuries...

I think we need some usage rules because with the modern cards there are plenty of players with 5 IP or 10 AB's and if they have dominant stats and are allowed to pitch 200 innings or get 500 AB's that could ruin the league IMO. So here is my proposal after giving it some more thought...

All hitters with 300 or more AB's are unlimited and alll pitchers with 50 or more IP are unlimited. Everyone else has a 100% usage rule applied to them and we use both force daily injuries and Super Advanced injury settings to ensure injury prone players don't become Iron men. The two numbers I used were off the top of my head so if you have suggestions post them.

Would hate force daily injuries.
Totally against no usage limits. Would really mess up this theme, manage a franchise.

Injuries should be set on and we use a % usage so we have some management discresion.
