[quote:33320d25a3]It's my understanding that a batter with over 500 ABs will not go on the 60 day disabled list. [/quote:33320d25a3]

I don't think we can use the SADV injury option (if this includes the possibility of the a 60-day injury) with any type of usage restriction. For example, a problem easily could arise if a player with just under 500 ABs is injured for 60 days. For example, if Barrett of the Cubs went down for a 60-day injury, Bako wouldn't have enough ABs to cover the 60-day period. That's because in real life, Barrett didn't get injured much, but he did take rest days. I'm sure everyone has a position that couldn't be covered if the "just short of 500 abs" starter got injured. That's just too big of chunk of ABs to lose for an extended period.

After thinking about it a little, we [b:33320d25a3]have[/b:33320d25a3] to do something with usage regardless. If we play a 162-game schedule, everyone is going to be pressed for innings and ABs. Logically, a team has roughly just enough "real life" ABs and innings to cover a 162-game schedule, but no more. An ill-timed injury, even a relatively short one, could easily throw someone into an overusage situation, especially toward the end of the year.

If we go with a 100% usage, I'd like to change my pick to a pitcher.

That's a good explanation of why we can't use injuries and 100% usage.
If someone goes down for more than what he did in the season, we won't have a backup with enough ABs to fill.

I'd also be in favor of a higher use limit than 100%, probably between 105-110%. Given our roster limitations, and only one legit FA available (except for Bob's two), it's not like we can load up on ABs or IPs. Most of us have guys, especially SPs, who we'd prefer to use only 5% but will be around 100 simply because of usage requirements. Playing them an extra 5-10% might be considered an advantage for all opponents. :D

Meanwhile, anybody see Adrian lately, or is he on vacation? If someone sees his YM icon light up, give him a shout out. All my leagues are expired and I'm in bad need of a Strat fix.

[quote:98274deb59]not sure what force daily injuries means.. maybe someone could explain [/quote:98274deb59]

FORCE DAILY INJURIES (Located in the Options/Rules/Maximum Rules dialog)

This option simulates the real-life drama of not knowing who's available for a game until you show up at the ballpark. [b:98274deb59]If you choose to use this option then players (both batters and pitchers) will occasionally be listed as injured even though they did not suffer an injury in the prior game.[/b:98274deb59] When this occurs the computer will use the Minor Leaguers setting to determine whether or not to replace this player with a minor leaguer. Players who are being overused are the ones who will be affected by turning on this option. Please note that this option operates independently of the Injury Option.

I think SOM chose a misleading title for this option. The key par t of the definition is "occasionally be listed as injured"

In regards to usage I really want to use something similar to what we use in the playoffs. Players above a certain amount of AB's & IP have no usage restrictions, while players under the set numbers have a 100% usage restriction. We just need to come up with the numbers.

How about under 50 IPs and ABs would be 100% and over would be 110%?

I have a concern with unlimited usuage, as this would limit the amount of management - someone with 200 or 300 ABs shouldn't be able to play every day - it's differnet than the playoffs.

Are we using ABs or PAs - PAs are easier to monitor because you don't know how many walks your going to get

I'm not saying 300 is the number for AB's or 50 for IP, just that I want us to pick a number for IP and AB's and everyone who is over that number has no usage restrictions.

Sorry for holding things up. If you ever need to get in touch with me send an email to agabriel2000@yahoo.com. I will get a pick in this evening.

And Mr. MoCrash, my wife has commandeered my laptop so I'm not on YIM much. But if you want to setup a time, I can kick her off and play pretty much any evening but Wednesday.
