I decided to stay at #2

Sykes - NJ - 057 (NY YANKEES)
Hak - CT - 332 (Brewers)
Sean - NH - 354
Runnin' Rebel - CA - 5 0 8
BJS - Indiana (Go Irish!) - 5 5 2
BC - Ontario - 5 7 8
Crossingroads - KENTUCKY (GO CATS) - 6 9 2
YF - Wisconsin - 711
BigAlric - Delaware - 825
Jsamia - Pennsylvania - 906
Jablowmi - FL - 9 0 8
Albert - New York - 913

Perhaps a surprise pick, but with 6 starting position players that go most of the way through the decade, I like what I see.

[quote:5331ff0b2b]I'm proposing a penalty for not putting a valid roster together:
- you must use unclaimed .75 players to fill the spot(s)
- you forego your secondary team for next season
- your draft spot moves down one slot for every invalid player on your roster.[/quote:5331ff0b2b]

I'm not sure penalizing teams is the solution. 1981 is just one example....and we're talking about 3 teams with just one eligble catcher between them. Without looking, I'll bet a similar problem exists in 1989 or 1990....if not at catcher, but maybe at another position.

Maybe we could just take a little time now to identify which teams/years are lacking at certain positions and just not allow teams to draft those combinations. I don't know. Just a suggestion.

Early??? That's like telling a homeless man he'd better get a house soon, as it's about to rain   :)

I agree with Albert here. I don't think punishments are necessary.

I think it will always be possible to make a legel roster. Since there are two open teams, if there are 3 teams with one catcher between them, even if you pick the teams that don't have one, there will be catchers on the open team. If you miss on them in the AD, you will be forced to trade, and given the circumstances, you may need to make a lopsided trade to get a catcher and become compliant. I think that is punishment enough.

Didn't someone have a proxy for Sean (YF?). I'm pretty sure I know who he would want.

Seeing Milwaukee go that early must have hurt for Yountfan! I didn't have them rated second but there's a good case to be made for that lineup!

My penalty proposal was just a way of motivating teams to come into compliance rather than throwing up their hands and saying "I've tried -- I can't get another catcher". Again, Cal and Sea are the only ones in 81 without a C, while some others have two or three.
