Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

I think Cardinals is a very solid pick. I had Cardinals/Angels 7/8 on my list in either order. Really solid O and D througout the decade. I like the Expos pick too, I think they would have been way up there if Carter was around for more years.

Happy Birthday JSamia, its funny, I know exactly what stretch of road you are playing on, with the gocarts and trampolines and mini-golf etc. We take our kids there too.

Where in Central Mass are you? I live in Hopkinton.

I will have my work cut out for me in the late '80s with the Expos, but all in all, I should have a solid nucleus.

Hak: I live in Shrewsbury. Usually stay in Harwich about 1 mile from that stretch of Route 28. Fortunate enough to be able to mooch off my folks and stay for free, so makes it all the better :D

How about that, I drive through Shrewsbury every day since my kids go to Worcester, and we played Shrewsbury the other day in my son's summer hockey league. We're practically neighbors. :D

I hate the Cards and Willie McGee in particular. Man the '82 series still has me ticked. Also, their players stink!

Albert...take us around the corner

Brewers

Postby jsam9801 » Fri Jul 14, 2006 10:54 am

I always have liked the Brewers. In the '70s and '80s they always had a solid group of hard-nosed, talented teams.

I feel your pain. I am a Red Sox fan, and quite honestly thought that I would never see the Sox win a series. Right after college I moved to New Jersey, smack in the middle of Yankees fans and Mets fans :x . Even worse was the fact that WPIX was 1 of 2 channels that my rinky dink antenna could pick up...and seemed to see highlights of the '86 series every rainy day :( .

I never blamed Buckner. He was a great clutch hitter, and without him the Sox would never have made it to the Series in 1986.

I do think that the Brewers are only a player or two away from contending. This could be the year (Mike Maddux is a great pitching coach, although I am not sure if he could help out his brother should he go to the Brewers).

I nailed the top 12 teams, although not the order!

And, on a Dodger note (man, I hate the Dodgers), an '81 Sutcliffe and '81-83 Stewart are available!

There are two teams I had in my top 12 that haven't been picked yet.

I obviously didn't trust my own rating system too much as I had St. Louis ranked 2nd and went ahead and picked Detroit who ranked behind them.
