Hey Al, didn't you hear, we are starting in '83 now rather than '81.

I had 10 out of the top 12, thought the Mets were one of the two that I didn't have. That's a bummer, I was hoping a couple would slip down to me at pick 23.

BC, sounds like we had a similar rating scheme. 10 out of 12 and in my original work up I also had the Cards #2, I then made some revisions and had the 7-8 instead.

The Mets could be a steal at #11, not as much continuity, but a lot of goo dplayers pass through during the decade.

I was hoping the Cards would be around when I picked....and wouldn't you know it, they get snatched up a pick before mine. They've got some nice pitching depth throughout the decade and great players to ofit their park. Oh well.

I went with Pitt mainly because of the number of leftovers from the "We Are Family" team in the late 70's (Where's Pops Stargell in this game?). Not only those guys, but Pena, Perez and later, Van Slyke, Drabek and Bonilla made it a very solid team throughout, IMO.

And the Mets, well....I thought most of their talent (and they have a LOT of talent) wouldn't arrive until mid-late decade, but when I realized Scott would be included in '81-82, that was all the incentive I needed.

Still a couple of very decent teams out there.

BTW, I will have loads of catching depth between Pena, LaValliere, Carter and Stearns. Will likely be looking to swap one for a SS.

The Mets are an even bigger steal at #13.

I refrained from picking the Cards, because I often end up with pitching, defense, speed teams. While I like this type of team I didn't want to be bound to this style, which taking the Cards earlier would have done. Crossing can still get a good enough team with his second pick to put any kind of team together.

As I said earlier, the 2-12 teams are almost interchangeable (and there's one left). The top 6 in the second round should all be decent, too. Unfortunately I've got the 7th pick this rounds, so I'm counting on some team being overlooked.

Oh man, for a second my heart stopped beating. Hak, if you hadn't put that  at the end of your quote I probably would've dropped dead on the spot. You don't know how much I agonized over that pick :x

I'm finding myself waiting with great anticipation for each pick. I just imagine being crossing and the choices I would make to complement the Cards. Some nice possibilities.

I am heading on the road in about 15 minutes...should be back on about 6 or so. I was hoping to make my pick before I headed out. I will check again shortly...

As jab suggested why don't you PM someone with your #1 and #2 choices. I'll be around all afternoon if you want to send them to me.
