Collusion: Please Comment

Postby Simon31 » Fri Jul 14, 2006 9:33 am

Maybe we can ask Bernie to put in a "Die________." It would come in especially handy during the live drafts. How many times have you waited to draft somebody and that 1 person just before you snaps him up. Now, you can play it safe and take out two or three people in front of you...just to be on the safe side. Not a painful death. Perhaps something on the order of the guy who gets to choose his method of demise in the Monty Python movie "The Meaning of Life." I mean...thats how I want to go! 8)

Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I think they are all one and the same.

Simon you're scaring me.

I do think the vast majority are honest and straightforward and in this for the challenge not the glory (and what glory it is). I have little doubt about that.

That said, I am also aware that collusions and bending the rules of fair play do happen. Whether this is it or not, hard to know for certain.

I read this entire thread for the first time this morning - as Spock would say "fascinating"!

Sorry Hak! I just have a twisted sense of humor. I think it comes from watching TOO much Monty Python. That being said, I used to play strat in a play-by-mail league where a guy would send you his instructions on how to play his team and you would have to roll the dice for him and send him the results. This league had been going on for about 8 years when I joined. In mid-season, somebody accused somebody of manipulating the results and the ensuing turmoil it created collapsed the whole league within two weeks. I never join a public league anymore. Not so much because of the "Kriff" type horror stories I've heard but because I enjoy playing the top-notch players in this community. I've looked at the top 50 players and have played with almost every one of them. I would also give every one of them the benefit of the doubt in this situation. KO did the right thing by bringing it to everyone's attention but more important he didn't mention any names. Without more info on this players intent, whose to say he wasn't just goofing around? Without more detail or explanation, I personally wouldn't want to ruin someone's reputation over this. Most of the guys in the top 50 play enough that a title in 1 or 2 leagues, probably on a free credit, wouldn't find it's worth it to destroy their own reputation over this. You would think anyway.... :?

[quote:2db402ddc4="Play By The Rules"]This is a real shame. I guess if you want to, no matter how many loopholes TSN closes, there's always a way to cheat.

As for all of the other finger pointing and name calling, WOW! I've never known Ty Cobb to be anything but a straightforward guy...[/quote:2db402ddc4]

Mr TyCobb is a total gentleman and is most honorable. I just saw this thread and must come to Mr Cobb's defense, if someone has indeed called his character into question. He doesnt know me from Adam and we had a money wager on the '04 election and he paid up very soon when I won the bet

Which is more than can be said for King Olav a.k.a. Bruce the Moose. Even money Olav vanishes in ATG III and resurfaces with a new moniker. Just as he vanished from this thread...

If only the U.S. government had the ethics of the vast majority of ATG players, this country would be in much better shape. My .02.
