I believe the rules say that if a trade is made between players on a secondary team, it must be specified how long the trade will last, and a committment must be made to keep your secondary team during that time. I think this needs to be made concrete upfront.
Either that all trades of players from secondary teams are til the end of the season only, or that a time period must be specifed and a committment needs to be made to keep the secondary team for that time period. and the time period should be stated up front.
Otherwise, I think we could end up with a mess of "I thought" and "no I thought" etc. Peronally, I think the original rule of trades of players on secondary teams are til the end of the year only worked much better. Also, does this new interpretation re-open the door of trading away players from your secondary team that are coming to you in a year or two? That was negated by the til the end of the year rule, but if the rule is now that you can have multi year trades, then this comes back into play.
Also, a rules clarification, I am understanding it that if I take a player on the Rangers in '81, and he is still on the rangers in '83, I have no more rights to him come the '83 draft, i.e. players on undrafted teams go up for grabs again at the end of each season.
Also, If I have a player on my team in '81 from one of my own teams, and in '82 he played on my team and another team, then I don't have any more rights to him going into '82 than the other guy, just because he was on my team in '81, He is up for grabs in the autodraft between the two of us.
