I'd also like to add my congratulations to Toi. He had to overcome adversity both on the field and with the running of the league. Good Job! I guess it's easier when you make the rules.

Looking ahead in our Franchise League: The Phillies change their main players very little in 2005. In checking my roster, my count shows 16 new bodies of which 7 are currently on a franchise in this league, 1 of which I won't have a card for. I pull 4 players from other teams and have no cards for 1. If we have no new franchises, I will have a starting roster of 34 players. Just an FYI of how this thing will play out.

By the way, getting way ahead, I may have Thome on the market for 2006 especially if he's only going to be a DH. Since he was injured much of 2005 I might let him go next year for the right deal.

Just figured I'd ask, but now that I understand the rules for next year, does anyone have a problem with me swapping out Gagne and taking Smoltz?

rjoh,

You can go ahead and switch picks and if anyone else needs to exchange picks that's fine. In the future years we won't do this, but we need to be flexible in the intial year.

Dave,

I understand your concerns and they may affect more than your team so let's look at it closer...

- Once you set your 40 man roster for 2004, how many of those players will not have a card in 2005?

- Out of those who do not have a card how many are you going to want to release?

- How many available players have a Major league card for the Phillies in 2005?

Trades

Postby aceventura55369 » Mon Jul 17, 2006 10:33 am

Any trades that happen prior to the supplemental draft do not have to involve an equal number of players on both sides. Of course after the supplemental draft they do since there are no there other transactions allowed afterwards.

On the topic of trades if anyone is looking to make a trade let me know, I have 4 * SP's who can start 40 or 41 games depending on how many other * SP's you have if you need starts. :D

Hidalgo played the majority of the season for the Mets so he is part of that franchise.

2005 Philles

Postby ktoe072031 » Mon Jul 17, 2006 7:46 pm

Ace,

To answer your questions from above:

There will be 6 players on my current roster who do not have a card for the 2005 season. Of those players, I would obviously have to release them all.

The Philles have 30 players assigned to them. I can replace my 6 no cards with any of 9 new players. I also show 11 players from other teams that I have rights to. This would give me 41 players (actually 38 since I can swap the no cards for new players at 1 for 1). I have 6 2005 Phils on other teams.

Just a side note on this. Of the 11 players that I have rights to who are on other rosters there is Randy Johnson/Yanks, Todd Jones/Florida closer, and also Polanco/Det and Roberto Hernandez/Mets.

I also want to note, I have no concerns, I was just looking ahead in our down time. I don't envy others who have more changes than the Phils, setting the rosters for future years is going to be time consuming.

I am assuming that if a new franchise enters the league they will get their rosters and non cards the first year. That would affect my team but I don't think in a big way.
