I am wondering if this is a glitch or not. A team in my league has all his pitchers as starters and releivers. He has 5 that start, but only his top 4 starters releive. In over two weeks now not one of his last 5 pitchers has even been in a game. Now I am new to this but I always read that to win you need a good bullpen. I want to no why a team can pitch only 5 pitchers and ignore the rest. I may add the 5 non used pitchers salary amounts to 2.5mil. In a league that starts tonight this same manager is in the league and I see he has the same exact type of pitching staff. Do you only need 4 or 5 pitchers now

This "glitch"/strategy has been debated at length before. If you fill out your per-game starters with the guys you want to pitch, the fill out your daily rotation with the ones you don't want to pitch, Hal will usually ignore them when looking for a reliever.

I have a better example somewhere that I can't find, but here is a team that basically went with 5 starters and Humphries as the only RP. You can see that some of the starters got saves because Mogridge started every 4th game. A few others got some scattered innings. Humphries actually won the Cy Young for this league. But the strategy is a little time consuming and gets boring. I just wanted to try it a few times to see how it worked. Also, if you forget to update the per-day starters and miss a day or two, you get creamed.

hey gamiam - either the link you posted was wrong or the league was awful if Humphreys won the Cy with 2 wins and 2 saves!

Though, I've also seen this type of strategy - it can be done well, but as gamiam says - if u forget to change the daily SP's, good luck!

daly, you're looking at the real-life stats. Be sure to click on the simulated stats link to marvel at gamian's handling of the pitching staff.
