Theme of the Month Club-

Hooner

Postby Risden » Tue Jul 18, 2006 11:00 am

How dare you put your work and livelihood ahead of a fantasy sports game! You need to take care of business; no problem from my perspective. It is still mid-July so this advance warning is appreciated! :)

We do, however, have the challenge of finding a replacement for (at least) the August Theme. Without wanting to start the draft over, any team starting with Hooner's pick of David Ortiz should interest someone. Is there a listing of possible replacements to choose from OR should we start advertising - I may have a friend from prior leagues that could step in if needed....

Hmm. It sucks to see Hooner go this Month. I will go to my regular buddies (outside of you guys), and see if someone can bail us out. Pelzer and LMBombers are usually reliable. I think if they know they would be a one-month fill-in, they may be interested. Some of the newcomers have been characters (Puckin Drunk, socalchiro, djl, etc.).

Gene, I'll check with LMBombers and Pelzer since I know you don't have issues with those great guys. If they can't be involved, we can move down the list. Since this is really your creation, would you have a problem with me tracking down a Hooner replacement?

Repost of rules for Hooner replacement

Postby KEVINEHLE » Tue Jul 18, 2006 11:26 am

*Everyone of course is in Coors Field :duh:
*Autodraft (Advanced League of course) after 2 round draft
*$100M League
*NO PITCHERS can have a salary above $1M (yes, there are enough starting and relief pitchers to go around)
*Allowed only 1 player to have a defense rating of "1" as a starter. (Another "1" rated defense player is OK to start as a DH)
*EACH Team must have 2 2Bs and 2 SSs on their roster with a 4 or 5 defensive rating. NO 1,2, or 3 Rated 2B and Shortstops can start a Game unless HAL subs for injury!!
*Since this a league with a lot of scoring, each owner must name their team after their favorite celebrity woman they would like to "score" with in their dreams. i.e. Aniston's Sluggers or JessicaAlba's Swingers or names much more creative than that!

*****TIM REDDING RULE*****
We will have a Pick 3 State Lottery Drawing. Everyone will need to pick a state. The owner with the LOWEST lottery number will have to draft TIM REDDING and keep him on your roster the entire season! However, the flip side of this is that the owner who is stuck with Redding will get the #1 pick of the draft. There will be a 2-round serpentine draft so each team can have their franchise players known to all before the Autodraft.
This means the #1 pick gets #24 and would have to add Redding to his team during the autodraft.

The Pick 3 lottery will also dictate the divisional placement. Lowest 4 numbers in the East, Next 4 numbers in the Central, and Highest 4 numbers in the West.

I think that is it.

Let me know if there is anything else I may have missed. Otherwise, we will do the Pick 3 and get the ball rolling. Thanks Andrew for helping on the Pick 3.

Re: I apologize

Postby KEVINEHLE » Tue Jul 18, 2006 11:28 am

[quote:7c0b6c8ed2="Hooner11"]But I will not be able to participate in this months theme. I am truly sorry, but I don't have the time needed to participate. I don't have access to the internet at home, and things here at work are about to get much more hectic with a new account we aquired. It is not that I don't want to play, but with this stuff happening, if I am caught looking at SOM, that would not be the best thing for me.

I really do apologize for this, and the late response. I thought that I would be able to woprk through this stuff, but I don't want to half-(expletive) it for the league either.[/quote:7c0b6c8ed2]

[b:7c0b6c8ed2]*Hooner, sorry about all the stuff going on in your life at this time. Will you be able to be in the September and beyond themes?

Thanks, Kev[/b:7c0b6c8ed2]

By all means find a replacement. And this is 2006 not 1980 so Pedrooooo Guerrrerrrooooo is unavailable. Do you mean VLAD?

Gene, you are the only one that caught that. I just don't think a guy with the last name Guerrero should have a first name Vladimir! Pedro Guerrero kind of rolls off the tongue better. But yes, I wanted Vladamir!!

Kev - I thought that you meant Matt Guerrier, not Guerrero. But he's WAY too expensive as a pitcher for this league at his $1.33 million price tag.

So who's your next pick, Kev? Jesus (Moises) Alou?
