ATG III Team Teaser #9

Postby edbazo » Wed Jul 19, 2006 10:18 pm

Giving us team previews is going to result in some oohs and ahhs, some ehhhs. I'm sure you don't expect any different. :)

Except for a VERY small minority, I believe that we all greatly enjoy, and look forward to, these previews. And I think an even smaller minority (perhaps one?) believes that you ignore our feedback. Except for one post here, I don't see anything to indicate otherwise.

Please continue your sneak peeks, Bernie... I have many more incorrect assumptions to make regarding the choice of teams.

I'm glad to have a Rangers team back in the fold - I'm one of the owners who feels that every MLB team deserves to have representation in ATG - so in 10 years I'll be hoping for a ATG VI with a 01 Diamondbacks. ;)

Keep up the great work Bernie - cannot please everyone in the community -and I remember there was a lot of "controversy" when ATG II teams were announced - but look how well ATG II has gone.

[quote:ad03cd1dcf]And Perry??? He gave up more than a hit an inning. Maybe the idea is to make him a nickel starter.[/quote:ad03cd1dcf]

239 hits in 238 innings pitched. It's not like he's Eddie Rommel! His ERA was 0.74 better than the league, and he only walked 56 guys. He'll probably be a decent mid-priced starter, maybe a solid #3 for a typical 80 mil team.

Am I saying the '77 Rangers are an All-Time Great [b:ad03cd1dcf]team[/b:ad03cd1dcf]? No. But it did have some All-Time Great Players, especially using 1961 as a cutoff. Blyleven looks like he'll be good.

As others have pointed out, more players = more options. Can't really understanding all the [i:ad03cd1dcf]sturm und drang.[/i:ad03cd1dcf]

Right on!!! 14 more teams!

I for one haven't been too impressed with the "overall" teams selected. But like we said before. Pricing is everything... well maybe almost everything.

Sometimes I catch myself thinking, "Why have an all time great that I won't ever use." But then again, if the price is right any player can become a star. Well, for the exception of Ernie Andres who even if he was free would be a waste. But then again, if HAL gave us 1 mil to take him he might become a top ten draft pick.

So don't get me wrong. Bernie, I love what you do for us. I may look at a team and go, "Yuck!" But then I remind myself that some of these players may become my new best friends.

Bernie, don't get discouraged and keep up the GREAT work! And please let us put any player at any position. Thanks.

-4 arm for Sundberg to go with his .291 avg and .365 OBP. No power or speed, but that's not a bad package right there.

That's what I was thinking, too. Battey, but better defensively. Maybe 4.5 mill?[/quote:67e025fda0]

Well, that quote didn't work. So much for the preview button. Oh well. I look forward to tossing Sundberg in the mix frequently. Should definitely be an *A* bunter, to go along with his almost adequate .361 OBA.[/quote]
