Buck O'Neil

Hey guys, I know some of you may not have heard of him because the first time I heard of him was through the Negro League Netplay leagues Im in. Buck O'Neil was a great addition to my team and he is STILL making history.

At 94 years old, he became the oldest man to play in a professional baseball game. The old guy drew two walks. Hopefully they will induct this guy into the HOF as he was shortchanged like many of the Negro Leaguers were.

There was a special Negro Leagues and Pre-Negro Leagues committee that tabbed 17 new inductees recently. Sadly, ol' Buck was left off the list and it's unlikely he gets in the hall at this point.

He was instrumental in getting the Negro Leagues Museum off the ground. Coming from Kansas City, I had definitely heard about him before.

Also if you have ever watched the Ken Burns' baseball series he is in it all the time.

Saw him on a Pirates telecast during their trip to KC a few months ago. They did a live interview with him and for 94 the man is still very sharp.

He is a great storyteller, and was an awfully good ballplayer too. He'd get my vote for the Hall. :D
