Great googly-moogly! Barnstormers has just been smacking me around. Here is the latest team to give me heartburn. I thought they werent bad for $60M, but now Im not sure. Is it too early for me to check out on this team, or is there hope?

The earliest I throw in the towel is just prior to the draft, when I see Ed, Munich Man, and PJMB all in my division...

One thing I'd try to do is funnel as many (more) innings through Lefferts as possible. I'd try to pitch Lefferts until his arm fell off. :D Sisk and Stewart are getting to many innings me to be comfortable with.

I never throw in the towel. When (not if) my team sucks, by midseason I have probably explored more than a half-dozen trade proposals, maybe pulled off one or two, rearranged the batting order a dozen times, given some shlub a spot start so I can reshuffle the rotation, and decided that if the team can jut go .500 the rest of the way to prevent 90 losses, I'll be happy. Lower my goals, and they seem more attainable.

If my team doesn't at least start out 2-1, I simply release every player I have.

 Every time you post you crack me up.

Yes, by all means, quit early, quit often, that's what I tell the kids on the teams I coach. It's not that winning doesn't matter, it's that it doesn't matter if you don't care.

When some upity kid on one of my teams says, "but coach, we want to win". I just give him a snack cake and change the subject. It works wonders. If he's really persisitant, I make him wash my car.

So my suggestion would be to stop caring. Get a box of twinkies and invest time into cable TV's slew of cold case files/city confidential/ true detective dramas.

Oh, and move to Tucson, the capital of apathy.

A lot of times I throw in the towel right after naming the team, but other times I wait until after I fill out he draft card to give up.
