Hey, long time no talk to anybody!!

I check in every 3-4 days, swap out a SPer or so, and then leave my team on cruise control for 3-4 more days.

Seems the West is the place to avoid if your in another division. Unfortunately, I dont have that option of avoiding the pigheads, so, I hope fore one game tonight, and pray for two!!

Pitcihng wise, my team is pretty set (McKaskill may depart yet, but undefeated, I cant cut him)

Hitting wise, I am solid enough everywhere but middle infield, and, its too late to do anything bout that now, so will just take White's defense, and hope Templeton doesnt commit 36 errors at SS.

Also, hitting wise, dont forget I am in TIger Stadium, which is 0's for singles. So, my entire OF hitting .299 and Madlock at .317 is really impressive.

I have just blown up this team for the 2nd or 3rd time. Had to give up on clemens ......1.45 whip with that 9+ mil price tag was too hard to look at everyday. Tried adding some pop to the lineup (hojo/leonard/armas)
I guess this was a last ditch effort to pull out of the deaded 'bottom 3'

Well, your dumping of Clemens made me make some major changes to my own team so, if it goes downhill for me, maybe dumping Clemens gets you out of the bttom 3 by placing me firmly at the bottom.

Generally, I go by the old adage, "never dump Clemens." His worst year is probably still better than any of my other pitchers.

I always thought Gormon Thomas would be adequate in Riverfront no matter what the card but he was stinking up the joint. Looks like I had Molitor's worst year but its not clear. He had 16 HRs which implied his best year, but the rest of his numbers were awful (especially if you assume mosty of those HRs were hit off of pitcher cards). Had to dump both of them to get at Clemens.

HAL keeps putting Mike Young in cleanup in my batting order whenever there is an injury so I am hoping I have his best year. Unfortunately, with both Parker and Jackson only able to play RF, YOung is actually going to have to play LF.

This is probably stupid, but I am making some risky changes to try and make a run at actually making the playoffs instead of just staying out of the bottom 3. Most of my team has really good numbers, they are just not hitting the ball during the same innings.

Remember it is the dreaded bottom four in this round. 4*3leagues = 12 guys watching from the sidelines in round 3.

i pretty much agree with never dropping clemens.....but it just wasn't working out:
browing
ruthven &
leal
all had better whips
so ill take my chances with guzman for now (even though i know he usually stinks)

I agree that in your situation you made a good move in dumping Clemens, though maybe you should have made the move prior to game 81 or maybe tried to trade him. The 20% hit is vicious for such a huge contract.

Which brings about the huge mistake the Sandmen made picking up Clemens. If you add the commissions, they are paying almost 12 mil. for a sub-par Clemens card. If Clemens couldn't win in your park and with your defense, then he isn't going to be much better for anyone else. Even if it was his best card, you can only use him for 25% of your remaining games, and I don't think he is going to win or no decision every one of his starts. I think they should have looked for help in every game rather then just every fourth game.

I found the poor performance of the Warriors surprising. On paper your team looked like a contender. In end, I suppose the pitching let your team down.

Finally, this western division has been one of the toughest I have played in. Every team is tough.

Well, Clemens is coming after you game 1 tonight Moody, so we'll see.

My team is ranked third in hitting (with Thomas and Molitor not doing much) and my pitching is ranked third from last, so I figured I needed to improve pitching. It was a desperate move, but....
Of course, your team is ranked first in hitting and last in pitching and you are leading the division so, go figure.

The fact was that I was thinking of dumping Molitor for a power hitter anyway and I wanted to get Young in the lineup. Nevertheless, I am preparing for tonight's sweep (not necessarily in my favor).

and for the record... even in his "bad" year Clemens goes an average of about 7 innings. Thats 21 outs-plus maybe 7-8 hits (hopefully) so about 28 ABS. A hitter gets up 5 times a game? thats 20 ABs in 4 games.
Clemens could go 5 ABs a game, but very very rarely. I have seen him go 10 innings in games tied at 8.

Well I've stuck with a sub-par El Sid card, because even that is not shabby. But my best pitcher has been an excellent John Henry Johnson card, which for the price can't be beat! I'm just amazed that the five guys I wound up with in my rotation have turned out so well. And thank God for that, as my offense just tends to meander along...so much $$ went into Trammell and Whitaker, and Trammell in particular can't hit his way out of a damp paper bag...I clearly have his worst year, but I'd love for him to even approach those numbers on the '85 card. But I've stuck with the great infield defense approach, agreeing to stiff upper lip Trammell's abysmal production. Working well so far.

I'm just happy I'm not battling it out in the West!
