Anyone ever use Drew?

Anyone ever use Drew?

Postby fred_1_15301 » Fri Jul 21, 2006 8:18 pm

I know he's probably not worth the money due to the injury risk but he's an absolute stud when healthy. I play in Safeco and have a Minute Maid and 2 petcos in my division. I also have Byrnes and Mackowiak backing him up when he gets hurt. Within my division, I will only face 3 left-handed starters. I haven't heard much about Drew on here. Anyone take a shot?

I used him on one team this year so far.

At the risk of stating the obvious, he is good value against RH pitching when he is healthy. 8)

Obviously, you need a good backup for him when he is on the DL.

It is a risk having him - no doubt. You might get lucky but I'd suggest that you might get a maximum of 400 PAs out of him.

What about L Walker? Slightly more manageable injury risk and does't need a platoon.

I like both Walker and Drew and they fit your stadium. A certain percentage of the game is luck. To me it is worth taking risks like these injury-riddled players because when they stay healthy they help you win championships. Sometimes they stay healthy.

skewed stats in that everyone in this league is in a hitters park, and using all 5 SP less than 1 mil.

my team rocks when he's healthy, not as much when he isn't.

I traded him for a pitcher, but....

He had a strong season for me (though hurt a lot, and sitting sometimes vs. LHers in sluggers' parks), but I traded him for Santana in a package deal. He got hurt a lot after getting traded, too, as you can see.

Thanks guys. I decided against going with Drew since I already have Castillo, Hafner, and Berkman on the team. I went with Ford instead and used the money to upgrade in other areas.
