[b:0190a8c0b4]Pedro[/b:0190a8c0b4] I can see a little more. His body is too fragile (esp. at this stage in his career) to go 250 innings, so he has to shut it down at some point in the season every year, but he is nonetheless a wimp.

I have to agree with JD. Drew,

Being a Cardinal fan, I am just tickled to death that other teams are having the same problem we had with him.

I don't know why he didn't get out of the way of Suppan's pitch the other night. He almost looked like he wanted to get hit and get injured so he could go on the DL. He spends as much time off the field as he does on.

My current vote goes to Zack Greinke...I'd like to know just what on earth is going on with him, but the reports I've read is that his problems come from anxiety that stems from being in crowded spaces :shock:

Is it just me, or are there injury similarities between JD Drew and Fred Lynn? Meaning, here are 2 tremendously talented players who rarely stay healthy for an entire year and are both the subject of speculation on how tough they really are. I am not commenting one way or the other on either player; I just saw this post and had a flashback to Fred Lynn.

Like Greinke, Tampa Bay's Rob Bell had to go on the DL last year for what was described as "anxiety which manifested itself on the baseball field."

In Greinke's case, I don't know if it's anxiety or wimpiness because he's a major flake. The Royals' No. 1 space cadet, on a team loaded with head cases (Runelvys Hernandez is a serious contender), was rushed to the majors without much minor league experience so didn't learn how to cope with the various pressure situations presented by baseball. The Greinke tale is all one needs to know about the Royals franchise. Hopefully, new GM Dayton Moore can bring some sanity and stability to the situation.

Still, I give my vote to Drew. It's no coincidence that two of the best organizations in baseball, St. Louis and Atlanta, let him go, talent notwithstanding.

It has to be Karma for David Jonathon Drew. That episode with the Phils was terrible.

But then I guess the Phils got what they deserved with Pat the Wilting Bat.

Greinke has some form of social anxiety disorder. You probably know someone with it; it's very common. It's a disease that needs treatment. "Wimpiness" is not a factor.

This topic is lame, guys. Every player in the majors had to have the toughness to beat out literally thousands of other people for their one spot. For their troubles, they now get 95 mph fastballs thrown at their heads daily. Pedro is a small, fragile guy, and since he didn't allow the Mets to MRI his shoulder when they signed him, there is clearly something going on there that he has been pitching through for years, at a Cy Young level. Paul Molitor got the same criticisms as Drew, and then in his 30s, his bad luck turned around and he turned out to be very durable and an all-time great. Even if that doesn't happen to J.D., so what? Maybe he was just born brittle and can't help it. Do you really think Wood or Prior wouldn't be pitching if they physically could? I don't know how you can tell what kind of pain another person is feeling through your TV set. A-Rod averages 125 RBI per 162 games and has a helluva chance at the all-time RBI record, so I think he's gotten some clutch hits.
