Guys, Im passing twice because quite frankly, I dont see the point in this part of the draft. It makes no sense to me to scour through the scrubs. I think it would be much more palatable to have 1 or 2 more rounds of drafting FAs from undrafted teams then doing this if you wanted to make up IP/ABs. Just my $.02

1. Bob - Blue Jays - Orlando Palmerio
2. Tony - Marlins - Chris Burke
3. ktoe - Phillies - Howie Clark

7. Lucky - Astros - Darren Oliver
8. Major Deegan - Red Sox - PASS
9. rjoh - Yanks -
10. Mo Crash - Cardinals -

My preference would be to expand the non-franchise player (NFP) draft to five rounds, requiring teams to maintain a roster of no fewer than 30 franchise players and then enforcing a usage requirement of 105-110 percent or even using injuries with 100-percent usage. Those wishing to keep their NFPs next year could do so by relinquishing a draft pick ... starting with Round 1 (an owner keeping 2 NFPs would have his first pick in Round 3).

Obviously, there's not much enthusiasm for the phase II supplemental draft. We're not so far along that we couldn't make this adjustment. Those who have made phase II picks could return them (unless they really want to keep them. ha!) and we could pick up at or before BobM's Round 2 pick.

I really don't think this would create all-star teams, but would allow us to fill some holes and increase AB/IP totals.

I understand that this proposal works to my disadvantage, since the Cardinals' base roster is very sound (okay, I really don't want Womack playing 2B every day, but at least he hits. lol) ... and certainly has sufficient AB/IPs, even with an across-the-board 110% cap, to survive the season. I only suggest this because I think it would strengthen the overall competitiveness and enjoyment of the league.

As usual, whatever you guys decide is fine by me. I just want to start playing.

with the unlimitd rules for hitters and pitchers as I understand it... ther eis no need to participate in this part of the draft if that is the reason you want to ....

players with 400 + AB's have unlimiteed uasge
Starters with 140+ IP have unlimited
Relief Pitchers with 50 + have unlimited usage....

with these rules, quality may not be there but even on my Cellar dwellers, I no longer have any IP or AB issues..
:)

I agree though, I am ready to start.. and I likely will not have 40 players on my roster.. only 39 .....Reyes was the only other player I was interested in .. :)

My humble opinion on expanding the FA rounds.. is that teams that are already strong will just be stronger.. and the weaker teams will not keep up to the stronger teams anyway...

I am more inclined to stick with the non-all star premise and use mainly the franchise players.... I am sure this league will shake things out as we proceed as far as being able to protect etc... this is suppsoed to be a longer view keeper league... I know that if I was in this for the short haul, I certainly would not have taken TO... :)

just my 2 cents...

I wasnt looking to move to an allstar format. I just think if you are drafting 2 more guys, its pointless to draft from guys with cards so worthless they arent worth wasting time looking at.
