speaking of trying a different game has anyone tried "HARDBALL DYNASTY" at whatifsports.com? I'm wondering if I should try it or if it's a waste of money.

Time Sink. Seeing guys like Vic Ishii and Jorge Smith doesn't wet my appettite. I have 1 HBD team in first place on every level of ball, and it is a good way to waste time, but the satisfaction is lacking there for me.

Actually, SOM has addressed this problem. In the CDROM version of the game, in the set lineups section, is a little thing called the "Super Hal Lineup Depth Chart. You can pick replacements (in order of preference) for each of the up to 5 lineups you can set. This option should be made available to TSN - it would eliminate a lot of the poor decisions that HAL makes.

Sounds like they could flip a few switches and have this figured into next years version.

It's definitely a CD-ROM problem, and the letters I have written suggesting bug fixes directly to SOM have not been received enthusiastically.

Hal is known to be extremely guarded about his product, and reluctant to make major corrections.

It's still the best game out there, IMO.

Oh I wholeheartedly agree. Not a better game around. Doesn't mean the company can't continue to improve though. A company that rests on its laurels soon finds itself struggling to keep pace or worse still, declining profits or continual losses.

In HAL's defense...(I'm usually with you guys though...)

Last night in a game, Cliff Floyd goes down for me.
HAL moves Miguel Cabrera from 3B to LF, and inserts Jose Hernandez @ 3B.

Now I do have Burnitz as a backup OF and wouldn't have minded if he put Burnitz in LF BUT, I was facing a LH and Hernandez does hit LH's better than Burnitz.

last nights game theme league nl only so I have a strange team 17 hitters so hal has plenty of choices have about 5 guys on bench who can play cf including ellison who is a 2 and hits lefties pretty good

so duffy goes down in first game of season (of course) and instead of putting in ellison vs lefty in next game he moves freel to cf ugh and puts nunez in at 2nd next game vs righty he keeps freel at 2nd and plays ellison in cf what?

rgimbel,

Q. Were you losing in that game? Is it possible Freel was brought in because you needed baserunners?

If you were ahead in the 8th and this happened, that would be a serious problem.
