Viola, Browning or DMartinez?

Postby AdamKatz » Wed Jul 26, 2006 4:56 pm

Ive seen Viola tear up leagues recently, but he seems to only have 2 good years (but they are great years) and two very bad years.

Should I instead go for Browning, who seems to have 4 good years, but none of them great.

or should I go for a righty (and have only one lefty-Carlton in my rotation)
DMartinez, Hoyt, Black, Bosio and Burns are available.

Viola, Browning and DMArtinez seem like the best three choices, but I have limited xperience with them so I was wondering what experience others may have had. I am playing in Wrigley and the rest of my rotation is Carlton, BSmith and Drabek.

I would go with D. Martinez for your team.

Personally I have not had a lot of success with Viola for some reason. I really like Browning but only in pitcher's parks like Royals. I few too many BPHRs, especially for Wrigley IMO.

Burns and Black are lefties.

I've always been a bit partial to Browning for the logic and reasoning you stated. He'll give up the taters in Wrigley though. Here are some stat by stat comparisons for you to help make your mind up. I never played in Wrigley with any of these guys but Riverfront if fairly comparable.

If not Browning then perhaps Hoyt or Black.

I forgot to Hoyt in my first upload. He's there now. Also, these are all DH leagues. No dh leagues were omitted.

traded Keith Hernandez for McGuire resulting in my not being able to afford most of the guys discussed. Took Hoyt. Never used him in a pitchers park.

Can only use the sub 5million guys now. Gullickson, BForsch, Sanderson, DAlexander, Bannister. Thinking of switching for BForsch. Any advice?

On the trade, I traded Hernandez to the Fenway super BA/OBP team. He now has Gwynn, Rains, Madlock, Carew and Hernandez.

I have the super SLG team: Mcguire, DaleMurphy, Ripken, Tartabull, Tettleton and Dawson. I considered keping Hernandez to add some OBP but decided to concentrate on the strangths of Wrigley.
