XM radio's Jeff Erickson?

[quote:1d01f1b53b="Cummings2"]Beverly Hills area here.

I used to listen to Fantasy Focus all the time last year. I think it was later in the day. This year I've only caught the show once (usually busy around that time) and I do remember hearing something about strat. Caught my ear but it sounded more like an ad for strat rather than like the cool info talked about in FF.

I think it was Phil Wood back then...is he still around?[/quote:1d01f1b53b]

Phil co-hosted with me back then. Unfortunately, he's no longer with the channel.

Yep, Co-Hosted, that's what I meant.

Too bad he's no longer with the channel. I disagreed with some of the stuff he said but I appreciated his work.

Well, if my schedule changes a bit I'll try to listen more often...like right now :)

I'm getting either sirus or xm for a gift and I'm not sure which one to get. Love sports, baseball obvisouly and I also use to listen to Howard Stern... anyone out there who's had them that can give me any insight?

IMO as far as programming they are very similar. I ended up with xm mostly for mlb.

I am quite happy with their coverage (you always listen to the radio broadcast of the home team), their 24/7 baseball channel, etc. This year I haven't had much time to listen to the baseball talk shows but last year Dibble and kennedy used to crack me up like crazy and in the morning the Charlie Steiner segment was of my morning rituals. Quite happy with my portable one (Myfi) good service, good quality, baseball...all that I wanted when I signed for it.

Hope this helps

Sirius I have no idea of. Maybe a Sirius user can chime in :D

Yep. The model I have was the first portable (Dephi -Myfi) the new ones are much nicer.

It's about the size of Creative Nomad ... About 3" x 5" x 1" The one I got has a hookup for car, cradle, belt clip, home antenna and "portable antenna" I've never had to use the portable antenna though. I just put the what-cha-ma-thingie in the belt clip, go out for walk and hear everything fine.

For the car you can use the car kit that has it's antenna and connects through the tape (you know the ones where the "mock tape" has the little cables that come out and connect to your device)

Perhaps what I like the most is that you can record up to 2 hours in the device. The new one you can record up to 5 hours, has a better battery and I believe you can also use it as an mP3 player too. Plus it's considerably smaller than mine.

go to www.xmradio.com I am sure you'll see it there.

BTW, you don't have to pay anything extra for the mlb casts. Also if you have an account you can listen to xm through the internet but I believe the mlb channels are not available on line.

OK. I just checked it out. It's the Samsung Nexus the one I was refering to. Appparently it doesn't come with the car kit included but there is a car kit available for the model that you can get on site.

Xm or Sirus

Postby AFDickie » Sun Jul 30, 2006 7:02 am

I have XM (had it from almost the start) real old model but NEVER-EVER any problems-XM has more ground relays so you hardly ever get a dead spot (this is where you get no sound or fading in or out searching for a signal). XM programing is awesome too-the baseball is neat listening to different broadcasters across the country in a CLEAR FM like format.

My wife has Sirus-her unit has had 3 different problems in 3 years-the NFL Sportster is a piece of S***. avoid buying this unit. However, the programing is great. She loves Howard Stern so if you miss hearing him he is even better incensored. Plus, all the NFL games is a neat thing too.

Either way you go is WAY WAY WAY BETTER than regular AM or FM-We both hate driving with regular radio-you really get spoiled and the price is nominal.

I hear both companies are struggling though and a possible merger may be the answer with XM and Sirus or XM and CBS.
