ATG III Pre-Card Draft-Discussion

As I understand it the proposal would limit us to those we drafted plus unused players from the ATG III squads. Is that correct?

[quote:12784f6769="PJ Axelsson"]I'd just as soon let them all be used as well. Why not?[/quote:12784f6769]

Because I, personally, would rather see the core of teams be ATGIII players. I'd rather not have people picking up (for example) Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig if the 1927 Yankees aren't one of the 24 old teams selected in our draft.

But I'll flow with the majority here - either way is fine.

If so, not wild about it. I really have not looked to see what positions I need/have to shore up figuring there were still 24 rounds or so left. Also figured there would be plenty of everything to choose from after the draft. This would alter that considerably.

Of course after reviewing my picks, I may be okay and this may be much ado about nothing but....... Also suspect that there will be a shortage of pitching under these rules.

I can understand that trey. I'll go with the flow as well.

Not a change kind of guy. Started the draft incorrectly thinking I would only have my picks to use, then shifted when I found out that everyone was fair game after the draft and now see another shift.

Either way is fine with me too. I assume most of us are eager beavers to use the new guys and won't fallback to the old and tired "Meusel/Geronimo/Clemente/best pitching available in Griffith" recipe for winning.

I say we build our teams around the players we drafted from the new teams and chosen old teams.

I agree with Frank M that we build our teams around our draft -- but not exclusively from our draft. I can make my team work with a little bit more restrictive rules at this point, not a lot more restrictive.

How about we scouts' honor that at least 12 players on our final rosters come from those we draft? Maybe even 15 or 16 works?

That should be compromise enough to give those who need some wiggle room a chance to build a complete and competitive team.

We could always go back and restart the current teams draft (not even close to a good idea) with everyone working from the same set of rules.

I like that idea Frank Bailey, I vote for 12 players.

Did I see something about us stopping the current teams draft after 24? It's OK with me either way. I'll go with the majority.

I'm gonna use as many of my guys as the salary will allow.

One thing we could try is to use a 200m cap, and we have exclusive access to our drafted players. There could be an allowance for filling positions that a given manager did not draft with additional non-drafted players in the sub $4m range only, you can't add players over $4m that you didn't draft.

This idea would have worked better had the theme been in place from the start, but I'll throw it out there anyway. I'm open to whatever you all decide.
