Rob:

You may be right but taken with nev's comments in another thread I think it is a reasonable inference that it was meant in a negative way

Petrosian you are proving my point exactly,

You could win without small ball, why did the pricing need to change? IF it was a misconception that small ball was dominant then why would you change the pricing? To say small ball is unrealistic is also to dismiss the entire purpose of ATG which is to be able to play and compare style across ages. To do this though you need proper pricing for all the ages, What has happened is the creation a real disadvantage among players. This is a game about mathmatics at it's core. The BP Home run is being given away. Injuries are no longer discounted Covington, is cheaper yet other players double? If the point is to get high scoring, poor defense teams they will succeed. They have priced defense OUT of the game. It is now too expensive in most cases except for some good HR hitters, Nettles, Schmidt, etc. Yes there are many parks available and some nice intricate potential, but mispricing will cause this game to be Kansas City versus the Yankees. Increasing the pricing for defense only helps home run teams. The pitching team never felt the full effect of an error and could afford them. That is how I could win championships with teams that led the league in errors and included such players as Doyle, Red Murray, Pesky,MCDougald and the like

Red Murray is now over 4 million Merkle over 3 and then made him negative clutch and lower his stealing ability. I got some good chuckles over that.

Since you are very smart please explain how Keller can be utilized to an advantage over Yaz or Jimmy Collins over Craig Nettles. In both cases the HR hitter is the better defender and less likely to get injured. Is there a magical park to take advantage of those 2 fine players?

I have said enough I will play and watch. If what I think is true it will make itself very visible and play will become even more uniform.

new ballparks will have big effect

Postby STEVEJENSEN » Thu Aug 03, 2006 1:05 am

that is my take. alot of the atgII ballpark's have changed and, with the infusion of all the NEW bp's, should have a big effect on homefield advantage. there will not be a shortage of talent or ability to tailor your team to your park. i forsee 60-21 home records and 30-51 road records being playoff teams and homefield being a MUCH bigger advantage in the playoffs
