I hated letting Lonnie go, but it was a calculated risk I think I needed to take. I wanted more power from my DH spot, and I figured Coleman gives me the flexibility to make the move. We will see if it pays off. It certainly looks like my move is paying off for the Cinderella Men.

It is getting real tight now, 5 teams tied at 54-63 and 1 at 55-62. It's going to be real interesting for the final 2 weeks.

Took advantage of Bombers' dropping of Burleson to maintain defense at SS while not having to carry Trammell's big salary when we can't hit. Then tried once again to address my catching situation...just can't seem to get a decent backstop in there against LHP. My NY Mets affinity has led me to Stearns. See how he does.

Inter-Divisional play down the stretch now. The race not to be excluded is a tight one. Three teams are under 60 wins coming into tonight's games, with two more at 60 and another at 61. The Central is still up for grabs it appears, with only 7 games separating everyone. Good luck to everyone as we fight toward the finish!

I'm pretty frustrated with my Cinderella Men. Seems like I always have at least one guy hurt. And I can't believe how badly Singleton is under performing. It's his 79 card and he's hitting just .230. Yount also seems to be under performing big time. It's either is 85 or 89 card, but he has 15 intentional walks and has been hurt several times but never more than 3 games - so I'm guessing it's his 89 card.

The Central Division has really improved. The A Team has picked up Soto plus what appear to be great Sax and Bass cards and then there's my donation of a great Greenwell card. The Bombers have picked up Murray and have the best pitcher in the league in Saberhagen. The Frenzy have really come on strong after finding some solid starting pitching.

It's gonna be a tough finish for my guys unless Yount and Singleton wake up. Hopefully I can hang on and make it to the next round.

Cinderella Men, as of today, would be the last team to avoid the cut and would be able to advance to round 4. But they're only one win up on Frenzy who has 63 wins to Cinderella's 64, and Warriors, Footwear and Sandmen all have 62 wins. So it promises to be quite a finish for the coveted next round between those 5 teams. Surviving has only 67 wins, and the Hatters only 68, so they've got to watch their rear view mirrors too! And for that matter, the Central is a hot race throughout, with neither ATeam nor Bombers a shoe-in for the division crown. They're not even all that far up on those fighting to stay alive for the next round! There'll be blood on the field before all this is over!

And by the way...don't'cha just hate it when you're stuck with a horribly performing guy in your pen, but there's little to be done about it? I just dumped Falcone. A whole lotta stank there. Felt I had to pick up another SP/RP, in case the new guy was just as bad or worse I could stash him in my rotation and then go the per-game starters route to insulate him from HAL. But it would be nice to have some middlin' production from the last dude in the pen, so I'm not flyin' with only four relievers. It is just so disappointing to review the available retreads (although Lynch is tempting due to the fact that he didn't even pitch a full inning for his previous team). Picked up Jim Slaton, see what he's got...even '79 - his best year - isn't terribly impressive. Explains why he hadn't been touched. But please explain why guys like McCatty and Rainey don't cost less than .75 - those guys look like they'll ALWAYS stink.

Just curious, what happens if the 4 worst records are in the same division. I know one makes the playoffs, but if the other 8 teams beat therm all who advances. Just something to spur on the Central. :wink:

If anyone needs to know why the Freeloaders are running away with the eastern division and have the best overall record -- just look at their starting pitching. They have five starters in the top 12 ERA in the league. I can't recall ever being in a league in which one team had five starters this late in the season in the Top 12 in ERA. Impressive.


The central division is turning out to be a bizarre division. It is very possible the winner of the division may have a sub-500 record. It would all depend if Frenzy keeps playing solid ball thus bringing down everyone else's record.


The west has so far been a struggle between the Pigheads and Admirals, though the Hatters are stirring and could make a move if they get hot.
