Guys- I will be at a funeral tomorrow during the day, back home between 3 and 5:30pm, then at a company party for my wife's job in the evening. Then Saturday I am at a family gathering most of the day. Should have internet access via phone that day though. I will have some picks in mind and maybe either Bill or Randy can text me when and if I am up. Sorry in advance for any hold-ups; will try to keep it moving.

Yep,I will be happy to help too. Maybe RJ can send Gordie a note telling him he's up? I'm guessing that as soon as Gordie picks it will come back around to him pretty quickly.

I'm still concerned, confused, and confounded ( :? ) by the salary cap and specific player/year issue. Kenhutchings "qualifying" statement on his last pick more or less raises the issue. I'm not sure if it's possible by the time we get down to the later rounds that you might exceed the salary cap; but just for the sake of argument, say you do; commish, does that mean you won't allow the manager to select a player that would put him over the "on paper" salary cap, when in actuality, we all want to do what kenhutchings mentions - decide which of the several options available when filling out our team on the strat draft selection, which then forces you to meet the salary cap. Am I making sense here - don't you all have this concern?

I'll take a stab at answering that one Katzenjammer...but obviously whatever Dan says is the more important answer.

I think what he wants is a situation where (by declaring what year/card you're using) you are always maintaining a team that qualifies under the cap. But you hold the right to make the adjustment and swap around different player's cards to allow for more cap room if you want.

This option can happen all the way up until opening day. After our draft is over, and you want to tinker with different cards etc, no problem...as long as you can make it fit under $80m

He doesn't want anybody drafting a team worth $90m and then figuring out how to get down to $80m later.

The spreadsheet Dan has calculates what funds you have left per pick. If you ever fall below the $500k mark per pick left (due to a selection) then you'd have to either make a card/player adjustment to allow for more cap room, or your latest pick would not be valid.

So.........as we go along here in this boards draft or paper draft or what ever you want to refer to it as, we all have the option to adjust to a different year/player as kenhutchings refers to in his last "qualifying" pick in order to stay within the salary cap limit?

I keep a projected 25 man roster of who I have drafted and who I still want and make sure the total salary of the years I want to use add up to no more than 80M Every time one of you scoundrels take one of my projected players I readjust my projected roster always watching the total team salary.

I know many of us will only use a 24 man roster ultimately but you must have 25 for the AD card which is what we are aiming at. Dan is simply trying to keep us all out of a pickle by tracking all of our team salaries for us. We can change years on our players at any time if we want to. This is really not a big deal.
