I think it was Bud Selig who gave the following definition of a Sleeper Player.

"An unexpected player whose overall contribution to his team's success
far exceeds his salary and normal expectations. A true over achiever."

With the exception of a few guys from the old 1969 league, I have never used any of these players before. But after looking over their cards and their salaries, the following are a few players who I think might make the Sleeper List.

Rico Petrocelli, Maury Wills, Tony Conigliaro, Jim Ray Hart, Norm Sieburn, Tommy Harper, Alex Johnson, Randy Hundley, Dean Chance, Christ Short, Ron Perranoski, and Hal Reniff.

Rick, I like you post. Mainly because Petro and Ray Hart are on my team. I need as many over-achievers as I can get! This will be a tough season among you wily veterans.

I have read that Casey Stengel was a "sleeper" during his later years managing the Mets.

Thanks all for keeping this moving at what I think is a pretty strong pace - no major issues with owner disappearances. Gives me a lot of confidence that we have a perfect group for starting the tournament we are discussing. Thanks to all who are doing research. I will be happy to participate in any reasonable player groupings.
