24 Team 1969 League - $60 million cap - 1 SPOT LEFT

StratOMatic has tweaked their parameters to permit a 1969 $60 million 24 Team league. It's the first season there were 24 franchises, the lower cap should make this league extremely competitive and realistic. Here's the parameters:

24 Teams
$60 million
1969 Roster
No DH
Waivers
5% drop all season

Everybody's roster will be tight but the $60 million cap will make sure nobody can get lucky in the autodraft and end up with a team of studs.

It's called the "Honor Role" SupeRealistic League. People who join need to be aware that after the autodraft because of the lack of .50 players, some teams will end up over the $60 million and players need to be cool about subsequently managing your roster to stay within the proper parameters.

I think this will be great, but we'll see.

I saw this league and a question comes to mind - the '69 rules require each team to have at least four pure relievers with no SP rating. A problem is the '69 player set is about 25 pitchers short to staff 4 pure relievers for 24 teams. What will happen? Based on my experience with the online game going back to ATG2, no one in the company thought of this and the league will seize up and not allow any roster moves - waivers or drop/adds - for those teams that are unlucky enough to have gotten less than 4 pure relievers during the draft.

I'm really enjoying the '69 game, but this looks to me like a 24-team train wreck about to happen.

djmacb: Hopefully StatOMatic will be able to do something about this? When I sent them an email about expanding to 24 teams, this was not a problem that needed to be addressed; they were more concerned about people going over the cap because of the lack of .50 players.

I will follow up with another email and ask. Thank you for your comment!

We encountered this problem with a 1982/24 team league. If I remember correctly Strat provided a work around by getting rid of the pure reliever minimum.

I think this could be a lot of fun but I also think you're going to have to look closely at the set and figure out restrictions.

Like, right off the bat, every team can realistically only draft and roster 2 catchers including players who are eligible to catch, otherwise there won't be enough available. There may also have to be a 23 player roster restriction so players are available as free agents. So, you tell teams you can draft 24 but you need to only roster 23 once the season begins.

And yes, you may have to restrict .50 players that teams can draft, not sure. I think if that's addressed and all owners are aware and agree then it could work.

I count 61 primary position players who are catchers, so I think that is less of a worry than the RPs. I doubt 13+ players will draft 3 catchers. I didn't,

180 SP - Approx 125 needed
75 RP Only - Min. 96 needed
216 RP Total (141 pitchers are SP/RP)
39 SP Only

388 hitters - 15 hitters drafte dper team = 360. However, I only drafted 14 offensive players; perhaps others did too.

This draft may end up being tighter than I thought. And if the top salaried players don't get drafted, they may end up getting forced on teams that will be put out of whack salary cap wise. We'll see how it goes...

How did this league turn out? Could all teams get enough players?

I'm considering having a 24 team 1998 league.

Any recommendations are welcomed.
