While it's not stated, I always intended to give the credit to whoever was closest. Otherwise there may have been no winner. What is stated is that your team selection has no bearing on the contest.


Oh wow surprised I was the closest. Thanks Palmtana Unfortunately he went to the dodgers but for 70 a year I see why

I read that with California taxes he'll actually get $34.8 million of that $70 million. That's crazy.

680 of the 700 million is deferred.

Ohtani will only get 2 million per year for 10 years and then the remainder of the money will be paid out after his contract expires. The deal is worth 460 million in present day money so the Dodgers will have a cap hit of 46 million per year.

This leaves the Dodgers in a position to make a run at Yamamoto.

That deferred money, worth 460 million in today dollars, will be paid out over 20 years …. So the AAV is only 23 per year, one could argue!!

That deferment, while legal, is so unfair. Only 2 or 3 teams could ever afford to do that.
