Yes, only one free agent can be put on your autodraft card and who you get in free agency is determined by the luck of the autodraft. Yes, it would be wise to rank your prospective free agent first on the autodraft list.

If you miss on your free agent claim, or you change your mind on who you want as your free agent, you can always grab another one during the frenzy or thereafter, at any time during the pre-season or season.

There may never be more than one free agent on your roster at a time.

All free agents, or free agent changes, must be announced.

Lastly, note that the rules have changed regarding trades. Players no longer are required to be on your active roster to be traded. Trades can now be simply announced, and the players involved can simply be picked up by their new teams.

Clarification:

Everything Bernie says is correct, and it’s a cool option, BUT, ONLY UNTIL the season begins, then you’ll want to make trades “official” or the trade will be held against the salary cap, and if you’re not on the roster, it’ll cost ya, even making some trades lose their value and/or advantage.
Bernie will tell you; Don’t Wait!
I’m not telling you that you should; Bernie’s right! (he generally is)
…but if you get caught watching the paint dry, and the season’s about to start, think ahead about carrying potential trade material on your roster … like the LHSP you’re not gonna use?
I have a question for the DFL Veterans:
Has anyone ever suggested having a 40 man roster?
It would be tedious in an open league, but when you are limited to the 2 Franchises, it could add to the strategy in general, and specifically things like injuries would be less catastrophic and you’d be more inclined to draft uninsured players we all drool over but don’t dare…or with trades as I was saying, there could even be a mid season trade added…just sayin…thoughts?
