Position Draft Thread

1. Basic Rules:
140M, DH, Waivers, 5/10/20 Drop, Unique Stadiums
Divisions will be East 1,4,7,10 Central 2,5,8,11 West 3,6,9,12

2. Live Rounds

a. Randomizer will be run to determine draft slot. First number in each round is the first pick in that round as well as your slot for each round. The order of the randomizer will be placed into the order you signed up. For example...the first number in the randomizer results will be assigned to me (sschu) since I signed up first. If the first number comes up 5, for example, I would then be assigned the first pick in RD 2, CF, and would then draft in the 5 spot in every round.

b. Each manager, in his designated #1 slot, selects a player at their position designated round. In this round, EACH manager will basically be making his pick for the round that he is first in. This helps guarantee that EVERYONE's number one pick is a high quality player.

c. NOTE: The player selected in that position round MUST have his “Primary Position” as the first position listed on the SOM ATG player spreadsheet under the Fielding column. You CANNOT pick a player that is eligible to play at a position unless it is the first one listed. For example, Musial 48 is only eligible to be selected in the CF round. Musial 42 can be selected in the LF Round and Musial 46 and Musial 56 can be selected in 1B Rounds ONLY.

d. Once you draft a player you can convert that player (for players with multiple year cards) to any card and for any position that they are eligible (after waivers clear). For example, if you pick Ruth 27 with your RF pick, you can convert him to the Ruth 21 card and play him wherever the card designates. You cannot pick Ruth 21 with the RF pick however since LF is his Primary Position.

e. If player is traded or dropped prior to the start of the season, all his cards become eligible to any manager. If a player is dropped AFTER the season starts he can be picked up by any manager and his cards are eligible.

3. Auto Draft – The remaining players will be AD. You MUST include all Live drafted players on your AD card. A player dropped after the draft or not selected in the AD is available to any manager. The exception is obvious errors claimed before waivers, the commissioner is the sole arbiter of this rule.

4. Draft Sequence

Draft sequence will be as follows:

Rd 1: RF: 11,12,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10
Rd 2: CF: 5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,1,2,3,4
Rd 3: 2B: 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,1,2
Rd 4: SS: 7,8,9,10,11,12,1,2,3,4,5,6
Rd 5: LF: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12
Rd 6: SP or SP/RP: 4,3,2,1,12,11,10,9,8,7,6,5
Rd 7: C: 9,10,11,12,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8
Rd 8: RP only: 6,5,4,3,2,1,12,11,10,9,8,7
Rd 9: 3B: 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1,12,11
Rd 10: Any P:12, 11,10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1
Rd 11: 1B: 2,1,12,11,10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3
Rd 12: Any H: 8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1, 12,11,10,9
Rd 13: Any P: 4,3,2,1,12,11,10,9,8,7,6,5

Rd 14: Unique Stadiums – reverse order of random number generated

Added:

It is very difficult to keep managers from colluding/making dumb moves, so I am reluctant to ban trading of draft slots. I will reserve the right to invalidate a trade if it appears too one-sided and with the consensus of 2 other managers.

couple of logistics questions -
1) can a SP/RP be chosen in the SP round (rd 6)
2) are we making all the #1 picks in round 1-12 (or 1-14) first (followed by the rounds in order), or taking it round by round in order ?

OK,I'm a bit confused; am I supposed to draft a RF here? Or do we move to the first selection in another position?

SP/RP vs SP only question.

My intent was that they are the same, but I see that this is not well defined in the list.

Since we have not started these rounds, SP and SP/RP are the same.

RP means RP ONLY.

I will edit the list.
