Overview
This franchise league is a 6-season tournament format that will take the top franchises from the following time eras:
Season 1.) DB era
Season 2.) Pre-War era
Season 3.) Post-War era
Season 4.) National League Expansion Era
Season 5.) American League Expansion Era
Season 6.) Championship Season (the 10 teams that make the finals from seasons 1-5, + 2 wild card playoff teams with the best records from seasons 1-5)
I made the teams from the available SOM team/era list (i.e. CWS-DB for the deadball era White Sox), and assigned supplemental players who played for the franchise to fill roster gaps and provide more competitive balance (i.e. Luke Appling from CWS - pre has been assigned to CWS-DB, because the available team list did not have a decent SS to pick from). This format should allow us to effectively use the top players from each franchise/era, supported by numerous role players and really allows us to get deep into the player set to cover the 60 team groupings. Although some teams are stronger than others for $100M cap league, every team has a few stud pitchers and hitters and should give you a reasonable shot at the playoffs. You can view the specific team groupings on the subsequent postings on this thread.
Rules
100mil, DH, waivers, 5-10-20 drop penalty, ATGv7 player set, Division assignments will be determined by the system after all teams are loaded each season, Home Ball Parks have been assigned - see the roster pages
Roster rules:
At all times your roster must be comprised exclusively of eligible players. Your eligible players are:
1.) Players who appear in your selected team/era list that are NOT on your do not draft, or do not auto-draft list
and
2.) Players that have been assigned to you on your "Add" list
You will see a number of players that are on the do not auto draft list. These players can be added to your roster if the team that has auto draft rights to them, does not put them on their auto draft list. That is why this league will use waivers. For example, the White Sox DB, have auto draft rights to Joe jackson, if they choose not to auto draft him, the Cle-db manager can pick him up as a free agent since joe Jackson has a card with that team/era.
Many Players on your add list may only be exclusively available to you for the auto draft. After the auto draft, these players may be open for other teams to draft if they have a card on their team era list; so make sure you put them on your AD list if you want them.
You will also note another category for player eligibility called "do not draft." Players in this category are typically players who span eras, where competitive balance could be impacted if they were made available at all to the team/era list. For example, Ted Williams is assigned to Bost PRE, he also has a card with Bost POST, but he is off limits to the Red Sox Post because if Bost Pre wins their season and Bost Post wins their season, there will be a significant drop in competitiveness in the playoffs for Bost Post who will not have access to the Ted Williams card. The league/tournament has more integrity if these players that span eras are only eligible to 1 team per time era. The championship season will open a number of new player roster possibilities, but I took a crack at keeping some balance through the player assignments.
You can use ANY version of a player you have rights to. For example, Rogers Hornsby is assigned to the Cubs Pre-War team, the manager for that team can use either the Cubs version of Hornsby or one of the more expensive cards during his years with the Cardinals.
You must follow the player assignment lists, this is not a league where players are eligible automatically if they played for a franchise.. (i.e. Greg Maddux will either be a Brave or a Cub where he is carded, he is not be eligible for the Padres or Dodgers where he also played in real life).
Most players who can play for multiple franchises are accounted for by the team assignments, where I missed a player (there will probably be some), the players are available to which ever team has them on their AD list and wins them in the auto draft. The usual high dollar card rule that we typically play with in other leagues is not in effect.
You can do any ADD/Drops you want as long as your roster is always in compliance. No Trades.
Draft order:
For season 1, we will use a randomizer to determine the draft order of the teams. For seasons 2 - 5, the draft order will go by final season record from the prervious season, the manager with the worst record gets first pick, the 2nd worst record gets 2nd pick ect.., the manager with the championship team from the previous season will always get last pick in the next season. For the championship season (season 6), the draft order will be determined by aggregate record over the first 5 seasons. Net run differential will be used to break ties.
