He will be eligible.

Think of it as this: we ONLY play cards from 1947-1966. The only exceptions are if a player is listed as ANY, or has a certain card eligible (Birdie Tebbets is only 1941 for example). For instance, Lou Brock is listed as ANY. Use any Brock card.

The Eligible Free Agents for your team must have played for your team from 47-66

A couple of questions about pitchers.

Don McMahon 1962 - carded to HOU, but otherwise property of MIL. If we want to use the HOU card, I suppose we have to draft one of the MIL cards and swap later.

Bob Humphreys 1966 - same issue, but owned by STL and carded to TEX (actually the short-lived WAS franchise).

Tug McGraw 1966 - carded to the Mets. This is his only eligible card, right?

When you assign players to a franchise, but not ALL his cards, then only his cards within the window are eligible, right?

Braves own McMahon because they are only team we are using with a McMahon card. You can draft any McMahon if you have the Braves. Since the Braves are actually "rotated out" this season, the Red Sox manager could Autodraft McMahon. (Though McMahon played for a lot of teams, he only played for the following during our window--MIL(out), CLE(out), HOU(NOT IN THEME), and BOSTON

Bob Humphreys 1966 - same issue, but owned by STL and carded to TEX (actually the short-lived WAS franchise). Only Eligible to be Autodrafted by STL. Also played for CHC and DET in our window.

Tug McGraw 1966 - carded to the Mets. This is his only eligible card, right? Only played for Mets in the window, so he won't be playing in our league

When you assign players to a franchise, but not ALL his cards, then only his cards within the window are eligible, right YES

No. Although some players outside the 47-66 window are ASSIGNED AND ELIGIBLE, they are the exception, because ANY card for that particular player can represent that player.
RULE OF THUMB: If a player has a card in the 1947-1966 window, or is marked ASSIGNED or ANY, that player is eligible for the League. Then, after the Autodraft, you can grab any ELIGIBLE player who played for your franchise in the window.

bontomn, dharmabums, warrenbob, Red Beards and magicmg have played era themes like this for a LOOOOOOONG time. After experiencing a season, it makes sense. ;) Hopefully, relative newcomers like evanthomas, caimrisek, and schwabdude will agree. 8-)

This is a remake of an earlier theme we played, probably 2 years ago. If something looks off-kilter, let me know and I can address it.

HOWEVER, you will MOST LIKELY find a weak spot in each franchise. Each franchise has strengths and weaknesses. The Yankees pitching will be weak. I will probably be starting 0.98 Johnny Lipon at SS with my Tigers in Season #1. When you have the Dodgers, you will be aggravated trying to fit all those great players under the cap (you wont be able to).

SOMETIMES, the three rotated out teams will hand you a prize. (In Seasons Two and Three, the Indians manager will be able to AutoDraft Roger Maris because the Yankees will be rotated out.)
SOMETIMES, the three rotated out teams won't help you much.

Wow - you learn the most amazing things. Hal Jeffcoat had 2131 plate appearances as a hitter, and 3053 BFP on the hill, including a career 39-37 record with 25 saves. He accumulated 1.3 bWAR as a hitter (pretty much his total from his rookie season in 1948 when he accumulated 512 PA's, mostly as a CF, with a line of .279-.315-.355). His bWAR as a pitcher was 6.6, including a high of 2.3 bWAR in 1956, when he was 8-2, 3.69 in 171 innings as a swing man for the Reds.

Didn't know that about Jeffcoat. Guess that's where that -3 comes from

So...just so I have it clear in my melon... If a player is eligible as "ANY" such as the case above with McMahon...and his team is rotated out (as is the case here)...the BOS manager can choose to put "ANY" of his cards on his AD list since McMahon played for BOS between '47-'66.... Yes?!?

And...if CLE were actually "IN" instead of "OUT"...BOS & CLE could both put them on their respective AD cards and highest ranked would win....right?!? BUT...IF HOU were eligible (and "IN")...they would have first choice to put him on their AD card because he is actually carded to HOU...right?!?

I've been in a few seasons with the same "type" of themes...I just want to be certain I'M thinking correctly... :?:

I look forward to this "era" of years as the three others I've been a part of have been thoroughly enjoyable not only for the competitiveness of the themes, but also the participants involved. :D :D :D
