Yeah, pretty interesting...although I think I'd have taken Ohtani if I had the #1. I think those top 5 picks are consensus though....but ya never know when Hal has some oddballs thrown in there that you don't expect.

When I played autoleagues I kept in mind some advice from luckyman that you can "get away with walks in a pitchers park." The reason being that, without BPHR's, the visiting team would have to string together hits/walks to score runs. That's not easy to do given the initial dice roll. Snell is going to have a boatload of walks and not much else on his card. If he's used in a hitters park then the opposing manager turns into Earl Weaver and 3 run homers abound.

ironwill (Pick 2-1 in League 1) and Hamilton17, what say you? What were your considerations when picking Snell?

I also recall a thread some years back that talked about having SP's that do not walk people in pitchers parks.
The gist was you want to keep guys off the bases. So SP's that had a lot of K's on their cards were needed.

1) that same thought process. I don't mind the walks in a pitchers park.

2) I love the K rate. Nearly 12 K per 9 innings. 11.7 k/9 will get him out of a lot of jams.

3) I hate the Yankees. So Gerrit Cole just want going to happen here. Though I think his card will likely be better.

4) I like the Lefty aspect too. Figure that I can build a team for a pitcher park and a rotation that leans southpaw. Just for a different strategy.
