Phil the discrepancy in Article 10 regarding what it takes to make a successful upbid is still there. Sec 10.1 says "The dollar bid does not have to increase if the years offered are increased." Sec 10.4 says "In order to obtain a free agent, a team must bid more money per year AND at least as many years as anyone else." Then the example is given in Sec 10.5 "Example 1: Derek Jeter is a free agent. Team A bids 2 year, $10 million contract ($5 million per year). Any team placing a bid after Team A, must match the years offered and exceed the money per year offered to pass Team A for their rights." You have previously ruled that Sec 10.1 is what we are going with and asked for suggestions as to the new wording. ggyuppie suggested "In order to obtain a free agent, a team must either bid more money per year on a contract of the same length OR at least match the money per year on a longer contract than anyone else." Those posts are on pg.165 of the Moneyball Free Agent Signings thread and your original ruling on the issue is on pg 102. That thread is on pg 15 of the ILC if you wanted to look them up.
